I know there are a few hockey fans in the borg, so I figured why not have a thread? I'll get us started with this bit of awesomeness. I want to be like Pavel Datsyuk when I grow up. xD http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/03/29/pavel-datsyuk-detroit-red-wings-deke/2030071/
Oh F you, I'm a sharks fan. At least they won that game. Funny sidenote I was watching this clip like 30 minutes ago.
Fuck Detroit. :unamusedcat: I'm a huge hockey fan, but unfortunately hockey isn't a huge fan to me, because I don't get whatever bumpfuck network they show games on unless I double the cost of my subscription, and it'd be the only channel I'd watch from doing so.
I can't see any Sharks games in NY (I'm from Cali), so I don't watch much hockey because F the rangers.
I'm actually a Tampa Bay Lightning fan, no real opinion on San Jose or Detroit but damn if I'm not a hell of a fan of Datsyuk xD My secondary team, if you will, would be the Rangers.
tonight 730 pm cst, Minnesota wilds play those traitors the former Minnesota North Stars, now called the Dallas Stars.:angrymob:
Aside from the weird florida team split I think its good, gives some central teams like Detroit a more feasible travel sched without having to go West all the time. For the Sharks (my team), its not that much different. Same 4 division teams plus a few other decent teams like Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton
Being a Lightning fan, the re-org pisses me off because I really feel like the league doesn't give a shit about non-traditional markets, but I do acknowledge that beyond the FL thing the re-org is probably pretty good. One issue, though, is that they seem potentially bent on using this to justify expansion, which I don't think is necessarily a good idea. Are more expansion teams sustainable so soon after the lockout and when there are already so many unprofitable ones? As much as I'd like to see Seattle get a team, I think not.
I personally wish we could go back to the old days with the Smythe division ect.... Of course add the expansion teams to those divisions...
Go Sharks, Blues, Wings, Wild, Montreal, Rangers, Islanders and Toronto. Go screw yourself everyone else. Playoffs.
Seems like Phoenix had a nice streak while I was in Sweden, but I don't think it was enough to get them into the playoffs. Oh well. Who's going to bring the Cup back to the east this year?
*cue trumpet music* Senators. I long for the day when Brian Murray, the Sens' general manager, is finally fired. There have been many years under his tenure where if you wanted to watch good Sens hockey you just watched the All-star game since almost half the team used to call Ottawa home. I could be easily convinced Murray thinks that Ottawa is the NHL's greatest farm team, and just trains talent and then sends it off to win Stanley cups with other teams once they are good enough.
