random boxes and stuff in lockers everywhere.... and strange spacelane minigame. also space seems very crowded.... despite that its holding my attention. though i have yet to encounter a challenging dogfight
I dont get the trading.. and it keeps crashing in the mission computer.. I will shelf the game until the first patch.... damn
Everything I am reading is that it is kind of broken right now, pretty, bad acting, pretty, lots of ships and activity. People are also saying that they have stripped some of the stuff out from previous X games to make it a little newbie friendly. Which honestly I think I may enjoy because I have never been able to get into the X games. I have all of them, but I just have no idea what to do. I REALLY wish it was multiplayer though.... I think I will wait till I have a bit more money, or if it goes on sale for the holidays. Excited about seeing the streaming of it though.
The *you can only fly one ship in the entire game* and the weapon upgrades consist of "lazer I Lazer II Lazer III, ect* is what really bothers me, why would you want to make a fortune through the trade lines or through other avenues if you cannot even buy new ships. The problem with multiplayer is the time compression, it really cannot be done in multiplayer, and without it, it would take literally forever to go from place to place.
This is NOT a X game, The made a fucking X-CuntyConsole game, That Looks as graphically beautiful as a recently sand blasted newborn. Should be renamed from rebirth to abortion.
I'd have to disagree with you there, It looks a hell of a lot better than AP, some of the textures are pretty gnarly, but they are still better than AP. The disappointment lies in what they took out. Also the weirdness of commanding a capital ship via docking in its hanger.. just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I am like 3 hours into this game and I must say that the video is not a good one. Yes they took out some things that I am really sad about. Yes I loved the other titles and yes I am totally into complicated games. Yes I hate the highways and yes I miss piloting the freighters to make a bargain! I am not really understanding the trading in rebirth yet but I am sure I will sooner or later. I am just now waiting impatiently that they fix the game-breaker bugs and then I will dive into this game and rule it, I will build stations run a fleet of capital ships that do the work for me.. as I was doing in the other titles. You could argue that you only have this one single ship in this game that you can fly and yes thats sad but to be honest in X3 I was rarely flying anything but my fast agile command ship that I had chosen for that job and had a fleet of freighters doing all the work for me via commands I placed. They where feeding my stations and taking the products to the customer while I sat there in my chosen craft watching over them that was fun. And when it got boring I bought and build some warships outfitted them with everything bad ass and just wiped everything out. And left the game with a smile. after this game becomes less buggy I will try to have the same amount of fun again. I hope this works
I've been messing around with it some more. For those worried about the game being "dumbed down" for consoles, I really wouldn't call it that. The focus has definitely shifted from previous games, though. We've lost the ability to fly different ships, but crew management on each ship is much more robust. You now have different crew members with different skills that perform different jobs. My biggest complaint is just how unintuitive the UI is... it is frustrating to understand. Secondly, no autopilot or time compression is annoying. I am starting to get the hang of it now after 4-5 hours, though. The Albion Skunk that you fly is apparently extremely modular. While it is true you can't change ships to fly, the Skunk can be outfitted different ways and can become an extremely powerful ship over time. You can, however, still own a massive fleet. I currently only have one cargoship, but I am happy to report that the AI no longer has pathfinding issues that the X series was infamous for; your AI piloted ships appear to be intelligent enough to not kill themselves trying to use a jumpgate or docking port. Even better, you can now dock at your larger ship and have it transport you to a destination. This "piggy back" transport is, essentially, "autopilot"... if you have somewhere far to go and don't want to fly yourself, dock with a larger ship and have them transport you. You can even look out windows or hangar doors of the transport and watch the universe roll past you. Walking around in stations is very unimpressive, but I appreciate the potential it has for further polish down the road. In some ways you can still pilot other craft directly, but now it is in the form of drones. There are about a dozen drones I have found so far and each one caters to a specific task as far as I can tell. Your ship also comes with a variety of scan modes that are quite neat to play with (similar to the metroid prime series). For fans of the X series, X Rebirth is going to feel very, VERY different (for better or for worse). I'm not sure how I feel about this new game being a "rebirth" of the franchise, but I would definitely look at it as a completely different game and a completely different franchise. While this may be disappointing to people hoping for a true sequel, this isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself. Overall, the game is still very rough around the edges. However, I can see a lot of potential here. The game has already been patched twice since realease. Egosoft and the modding community have always shown strong long-term support for their games. I don't really recommend buying the game right now, but I see every indication that this game will only get better over the coming months. Final verdict: X Rebirth is a true space simulation that offers a lot of new features and shows a lot of potential. If you are a graphics/voice acting snob, though, stay away. Environments are beautiful but character designs are very dated. Regardless of where you stand, wait until Christmas or when it goes on sale before buying. By then, most of the worst bugs should be ironed out and there should be some reasonably good mods available. We might even see better character models by then.
What gets my goat. Like Rome 2, Like aliens vs colonial marines, And Rebirth, Is the blantantly false advertising. Way way beyond the usual shit we get with game advertising. The only reason i bought Rebirth as it was advertised as a x game, trade, combat open world. Yes they did release some information that the game was going to be more streamlined but we could still do the stuff we done in other x games.. It was a lie. I really hope that someday, Someone successfully sue's one of these company's for the utter cunt marking bullshit they come out with.
