I missed out on the 2 year anniversary stuff because I couldn't get the damn launcher to update correctly: I don't understand the specifics but it has something to do with the speed of the connection and War Thunder's P2P settings. More info on it here: http://forum.warthunder.com/index.p...er-disables-my-modem-when-patching/?p=3600788 I found that by downloading PeerBlocker and using its default settings helped quite a bit. I also limited my download speed to 1000 KB/s (change the setting in options with the wrench icon in the top right corner) and that kept it stable... although admittedly slower than I'd like: EDIT: I forgot you could uncheck the "Full Client" box to avoid this issue, but it still doesn't solve the problem. and that works? WTF Gaijin?! when it does that to me, it "says" its downloading, but there is no progression that can be seen.
the above solution i posted for me STILL doesn't work. fuck this game. fuck Gaijin. this has been an issue for over a YEAR! can someone please help?
Have you tried a fresh install? Sometimes its a single corrupt file somewhere that's clogging the whole thing up.
apparently. the last few times i've gotten that pop up i just turn off my monitor do something else for awhile come back and download is done. it doesn't make sense. you think it would pause till you select yes or no but apparently not.
that is what i had to do everytime to avoid it. the issue is not corrupt files. the issue is WT's shitty P2P downloading. i shouldn't have to do a whole new fresh install everytime there is a major update.
I think I found a good alternative: Ignore the exception popup; apparently you can download updates using the torrent link. So far this appears to be working... and at much faster speeds than what I could get through the launcher. Current download time says 5 hours until finished. Much more reasonable than before (>24 hours). Will post an update when I have more info.
Torrent worked like a charm. Download took roughly 5 hours I think. Just copy everything downloaded into the main War Thunder directory: A grumpy StuG has appeared!
I have not had an issue with the launcher crashing, BUT it freezes my routers. so I have to hard boot my router to get it going again. It has only happened over the past couple days while I have been getting WT updated.
good to know. my OP was directed at specific ongoing issue with the launcher when downloading a large amount of data (such as when you haven't played for a long perriod of time and missed multiple updates). the forums have identified it as timeout problem with the WT servers. that being said, it has been a long time since I have had to do a large update. the problem might have finally been resolved. another wrinkle to this is the fact that the torrent link in the bottom righthand corner is gone since a recent update (at least when using the client you download from the main website). I'm unsure if this change is related.
