Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the MWO forums are in complete Chicken-Little mode? Half the population seems to be pissing their pants imagining that there might be any kind of purchasable items that aren't less useful than basic starter gear, and the rest seem to have latched on to some bizarre idea that 'mechs with no legs and destroyed side torsos are going to be unstoppable, immortal battlefield juggernauts, because they read "does not transfer damage like TT" as "indestructible bulletproof shield". Did the forum just get a huge influx of stupid, or has the collective intelligence level somehow otherwise dropped about 50%?

Or am I just getting crotchety? :disturbed:

You're letting the Stupidity Virus of the MWO forums infect you. The only antidote is to stop going there as often.

Crochety. I blame the Eclipse for a bunch of the attitudes going around. :D

Yeah, you're not the only one. But then again, as with any large population, idiots are abound... Sometimes thought, it's simple boredness that drives the masses to talk about what-if scenarios that make no sense when you look at them logically.

That's a good point. Maybe I should go bump the "Wild Speculation" thread a little...

Skoll nailed it, its harder each day to read the forums there as everything seems to be blown out of proportion and the same thread topics keep coming back up. I do not envy the mods or PGI staff at all, no way I could be civil and in their shoes.

I try to stay away from game forums once I find a home (like this place.) once a game reaches the end of its dev cycle it tends to attract the maladjusted geeks/nerds that never got over getting stuffed in lockers in highschool.

Yeah they are getting ridiculous. I'm actually finding it pretty entertaining to watch. It's hilarious watching some of these people try to form arguments and fall flat on their faces. But maybe that's just because I'm cynical.

I read our thread and a few others on MWO. Most everything on there is idle speculation or wild rumor.

I think the newest influx of people who joined the forums are all xbox 360 mech assault noobs where thats the ONLY battle tech related game they know about. Pretty much the only forum I read is our own now. and anything the devs might post.

I've pretty much stopped going to the MWO forums except to check on the recruitment thread. The mass influx of stupid has gone beyond acceptable levels.

Also, it's seems that most of the noobs can't read. None of them have really checked the FAQ section at all, then post stupid topics that would've been answered with the FAQ... Bloody youngin's can't read.

    Forum on internet... interneet stopid

    What does intelligelligence meen?

On a serious note, its most likely because they are people like me who don't read every last bit of info and yet think they know how it all works (I, fortunately, have enough common sense to see otherwise)

I've read most of the stuff and I'm not too lazy to read. I have around 200ish books alone in my room mostly science fiction and i have read them all. And there is an acceptable level of stupidity? This is new to me. I thought we had a zero tolerance policy on stupidity.

Consider the 'acceptable level' a calculated risk factor. We all know that stupid exists and at varying levels. As much as we'd like to ensure that stupidity is snubbed out as soon as it's spotted, it will inevitably seep through the cracks and find a way in. Now, do we force everyone to undergo rigorous testing to ensure they don't have the signs of stupidity or the potential for such acts or do we allow a bit of leniency to ensure that for every 1 stupid we get 3 normal and then correct for the accidental stupid?
