A legend has passed today. David Bowie has died from cancer, so says his son. There goes one from another age.

 

See you space cowboy...

 

It's already a shitty year for good music.

 

A great artist, performer and voice is gone. Rest in Peace David

I was lucky enough to see him headline Glastonbury 2000. I wasn't a real fan, but I knew this would probably be my only chance to see this icon (meanwhile my other buddies all took off to see Basement Jaxx because we were all on chemicals and they needed to dance more).

He played for 2 hours and I knew every song. That alone for me was the moment I understood just what an impact he had had on the music of his and following generations.
Couldn't tell you if it was one of the best gigs I ever went to, but it was certainly one of the most important.

I loved Next Day and am saving a first listen to Blackstar for Thursday when I have a long lonely drive to customer site.

Of all the people that get the 'icon' treatment when they pass away, this is a guy who went there and beyond. Here in the UK, he has got the full cover on every newspaper today.

 

Rest in peace, David Bowie, you will be missed.

I didn't realize at the time, but I lost sleep over his passing after hearing the news.

That said, what I've been up to the past few weeks has been setting up a club in Second Life. Unrelated, except for the fact that Saturday we are going to be running a masquerade ball in memoriam of this great man at 4p PST. If anyone wants to attend, let me know and I'll give you the details.
