We talked about doing a War Thunder event in the monthly meeting and we are checking here to see how many would be interested in it. For those that don't know what War Thunder is. It's a free to play game where you control air, ground and naval vehicles from WW2 and the cold war. There are currently over 1500 highly detailed vehicles from various nations implemented in the game. With 80 maps representing historical battle fronts across the world. The game allows you to experience combat missions at various difficulty settings for all play styles and degrees of experience. https://warthunder.com/en As a group we will be playing all of the modes so that the players get a chance to experience everything the game have to offer. The game uses a ranking system to keep things balanced. We will of course play on the rank that allows everyone to participate. We are also looking to see if there is anyone willing to help with various things. Like planning missions and special events to do together. Arrange training sessions for those that want help and so on. Even if you can't help, just being there and participating is more then enough. Currently, the thought is that the event will occur on Saturdays at 18:00 EST but it could be changed depending on what the interested players say. Tell us your thoughts about it and if you want to participate or not. As always, if you have any questions we will try to answer them.
I've been playing War Thunder on and off for a while now and will gladly participate in the event if it were to take place. My experience is mostly with the naval and air game modes.
count me in. It's been awhile for me, so I may be going off of old/bad info, but may I offer a few suggestions: focus on maximizing fun for everyone. avoid grinding for tiers and new vehicles if you have to split up the group; people can do that anytime in smaller groups during the week. focus on lower tiers so that everyone can participate (perhaps only up to stuff that was common during WW2?) the game sorts by highest Battle Rating (BR), so everyone should use vehicles according to that (some of these Aspius already mentioned)
Spoiler: Empty quotes Right now, there are 5 of us that are interested. So i say that we get this rolling and hopefully we can pick up some more on the way. First things first, get downloading. Make sure that everything is ready for when we start. If saturday at 18:00 EST works for everyone we are looking to start next Saturday (28th). For those that want and are ready, we could try to meet up this saturday but i do want to give people time to download so official start of the event would still be next Saturday.
I've been playing a lot the last few days, getting my flight memory back on the 109s and 190s. Saturday is a hard day for me as thats basically noon and small children are time consuming, but if I can I'll jump on.
Saturday @1800 is fine for me, but that's also the normal time we schedule our monthly meetings. Is that intentional? Would we just skip WT the days we have a meeting? Or schedule it after (assuming we didn't have something else going on)? I suppose that could work.
I am aware that the meetings happen at that time as well and when they do collide, we could just start before or after the meeting. I chose the time based on the idea that I want to leave the middle of the day free but it's also hard for me to start any later. Personally, I wouldn't mind starting abit earlier but I don't think that would help with making more join us.
I used to play the tanks, but it's been a dog's age. Is everything integrated together for air/land/sea now?
I think it's still ground (air if you have enough points), sea (enough points to spawn a plane or one of your own). Though I did play a match that was pve and was helicopters and tanks.
There's a couple modes out now, some combo of ground/air and sea/air like Fet said, also a seasonal global war and then also modes purely in one mode like air battle only, which is mostly what I play, but I dabbled in the sea / air battles and they're pretty fun even at the torpedo boat level.
