My Marelok build: http://warframe-builder.com/Seconda...5-11-263-7-204-7-193-6-206-6-205-9/en/3-0-41/ My Pyrana build: http://warframe-builder.com/Seconda...211-9-222-9-204-7-193-6-206-6-205-5/en/3-0-46 Marelok: near perfect status chance excellent ammo efficiency large pistol - good at "medium to longish" range cheaper to upgrade (2 less forma required to max out) Pyrana: lower status chance, but high number of pellets offsets this (status chance still good) double the fire rate sawed-off shotgun - excellent damage at short range (good secondary for a long range primary) In terms of raw damage output, the Pyrana is the clear winner. However, because the Pyrana fires like a shotgun, it is not effective at longer ranges. If you need more long range punch, go with the Marelok.
That is more or less what I have in my marelok, I don't use Ice storm but that is because I didn't think of it, I used whatever the new slash pistol mod is.
I was as surprised as you were. One would think that or something else might offer overall higher dps, but nah... Ice Storm really is a fantastic mod. But you are right; in some situations where more slash would be preferable, Maim looks like the better choice. Ice Storm is not essential, but I personally like the slow proc it adds to the mix.
My theory has always been if the marelok stops one hitting things with head shots it is time to leave, or about 35 min into a tower 4.
Wolf and i came close dropping the two of us the first time I killed Laphantis. I don't think I have guns to kill a level 100 mob, maybe a level 100 boss, but if there is 1 mob there is at least 30 others...
