Sim Drop Weekend!

    DROP TIMES:
    MEET SUNDAY (21st) @ 1200 EST (after Skjaldborg meeting); possible 2nd drop sunday evening if we get enough people.
    DROP 30 minutes after meet time

    RULES:
    • Bring your campaign character & mech: get your .mul file BEFORE we drop! (ask for help if you need it)
    • Any mech that a player currently owns or plans on purchasing during this downtime cycle may be used.
    • Players without characters in the campaign will be limited in Tech Level to the current timeline and up to 2000 BV for their unit.
    • Priority goes to people with characters, but others may join if there is room.
    • Any number of observers are welcome to sit in and watch. Bring some booze! :D
    • The battlefield will be a randomly chosen 32x34 or 35x35 map.
    • Players on each team will roll for Leadership and Scrounge checks as usual, best rolls apply for each team.
    • Leadership rolls receive no Support or Initiative Bonus and XP Bonus is reduced by 1 XP,
    • Scrounge rolls do not receive normal bonuses; highest roll determines Team's deployment, objectives, and possibly other drop specific factors.
    • "Real Blind Drop" will be disabled for all Exhibition matches to help speed up drop setup.
    • 1 XP reward for participation; players who leave prematurely may be subject to receiving no reward (at the discretion of the GM)
    • We aren't required to complete these drops, but I would provide at least a 4 hour window if you plan to stick around for the whole thing. If people are ready to go with their .mul files and combat moves quickly, it is possible we could finish much much earlier.

    In case you were wondering, Saturday is no good for me because I have a party I am going to. If someone wants to take the reins for Saturday, though, feel free (remember to follow the same guidelines listed above)!

    So called "Bounty Hunter" got what was coming for him though. We kicked the back of his knees 'till that abomination was just a piece of junk metal on the ground. My sacrifice was not in vain.

    Decided to play out the final turns of the match on my own just to see what might happen. Overall, the drop was quite close. Trev was almost dead at the end, but survived; the remaining Aerospace for Team 2 hurt him pretty bad before it went down. Hunter was 2 turns away from fleeing off-map, but couldn't escape me at such short range (sorry Hunter, I tried to get you out alive).

    Note: to reduce the chance of dealing a CT kill, I reduced all my laser damage to 1 point. the damage was still substantial, though, because i dealt direct blows.

    Final Note: sorry for any frustration or confusion on the rules, guys. I hope everyone still had fun. I welcome any input on how we can balance these drops and I will be sure to clearly post the objectives before we start next time.

    I think this might work best to discourage people from camping or just going into deathmatch mode:

    Option 1 Rules:

    Extract Friendly VIP Transports = 1 point each (max number of Trasports is 2)
    Destroy Enemy VIP Transports = 1 point each (max number of Trasports is 2)
    Kill Entire Enemy Escort = 1 point

    This way, one team need only earn a minimum of 3 points in order to win and draws are impossible.

    Option 2 Rules:

    Extract Friendly VIP Transports = 1 point each (max number of Trasports is 2)
    Destroy Enemy VIP Transports = 1 point each (max number of Trasports is 2)

    Again, one team need only earn 3 points to win, but this swings the focus heavily towards killing the Transports and will make things particularly challenging for slower mechs who can't keep pace. Also, draws are possible in this version.
