I'm glad Derak posted a thread on this topic. I want to expand upon that. During a break from my studies I pulled apart my MP content from the original mekhq release and inserted it into a fresh copy. it is available on our dropbox in the normal location marked as mekhq 0.3.3 & MP4.6. find it here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/41vh43603vyfqdk/XAJ3dvCgEN if a group of you could get together and briefly test it for stability, it would save me some time. Ideally, i would like to get this resolved by tuesday so we can get people in for drops asap. some useful tips: ensure that everyone has removed all previous copies of the mekhq folder have everyone run this tool to remove outdated copies of java: http://java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp make sure your java is up to date when testing for stability, make sure to add at least one bot. what you take, where you deploy, and team setup does not matter. 4-5 people should be enough to reasonably test stability. you do not need to put any thought into your turns or play the game to completion; 10 turns should be sufficient. record any errors found. if problems persist, have everyone unistall java completely and then reinstall posted here for ease of viewing:
Unless something comes up last minute I can put together a game around 8pm EST tonight. Meet up in the Megamek channel.
also, apologies to Gamma Lance for things not going according to plan. all event rolls made sunday will stand and we will try to reschedule you asap. let me know what days are good for you.
I can test tonight, need to get my fix in since I was deprived of it sunday. Also free all week for availability just need a little heads up
I'll help you test tonight Skwisgaar. Should be on most of the evening. Also, when reinstalling java after you remove it with the uninstall tool, I highly recommend you install both 32 and 64 bit offline versions found here (only 32-bit if you're using a 32-bit OS): https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Not sure if it's related to the desync issue, but I just ran a series of 1v1s in some 'mechs i wanted to try out against princess. Ran fine for 3 games, 4th game our battle moved to the corner of the map, and when princess' charger started on the edge, I ran into the issue where her unit disappeared and it got stuck on its movement phase. Not sure if related.
I so want to get the game running I was really pumped up to do a real dropp last Sunday. I will be busy tonight and probably tomorrow night as well but after that I should be able to get the drop going either same time as last time or earlier if we do it on the weekend.
We had princess put two mechs inside of buildings that we then had to bash out from around them but that was all AI problems, I'm suspecting that your bot issue might also be one of those. Basically Skwi and I ran a host, two connected clients, as well as magnus and Tzeentch as separately connected observers and we had no issues at all. Everyone had gone through with the new test build with a fresh install I think most of us had also done fresh java installs as well. Tzeentch might have been using his old java install. We didn't notice any timestamp mismatch issues that have been showing up regularly (even on working matches), The suspicion is if you are connecting from a computer that isn't set to the EST time zone it will throw the timestamp mismatch. The best thing we can think of is someone from this past sunday had a bad java installation or a really corrupted megamek install and it caused everyone to have problems. If you were in the sunday drop or even if you haven't please do a fresh java install and use the new megamek download that Magnus put in the first post so that we don't have this again and everyone else isn't going to be pissed at you for screwing their day and game up.
I think the timestamp thing is matched to the host computer, not necessarily just EST. It just so happens that Magnus and I, being the last 2 host computers, are both based in EST.
I'l do a complete reinstall (I did it last sunday as well) I really want to slam some PPC bolts into some princesses
Yay so we have a dropp time now? (Because I was dopping with gamma if I remember correctly) Just a question form a European, do you really mean 04:00 EST or is it 4PM EST?
