So if the cold war went hot and ended in a nuclear exchange in 1985, what vehicle would you want to use to ride out the apocalypse alone or with a small group of friends (no modified Nuclear-powered icebreakers, despite how awesome that would be) and what modifications would you like it to have to better handle the rigors of survival. Do you focus on the threat posed by other humans? Or by radiation? Maybe you whant high living standard? Or maybe you are just going for style? My submission: *edit: Is there no way to do propper spoilers in this forum?
Personally, I'd take the Unicat xEX70-HDQ / MAN TGA 6x6. Not only is it a fully loaded, ready to roll all-terrain RV, it looks very comfortable, has all the amenities you could ever want, and includes a ATV in a retractable lift in the rear. Here are some photos of it in action. My additions would be some light to moderate armour plating, a horsepower increase on the engine, conversion to a Hybrid drive train for increased fuel efficiency, and four mounted weapons (think WW2 bomber style waist mounts, only fully enclosed with Plexiglas) along the sides. I would also likely add a bunch of jerry can storage in racks along the sides, about half way up. EDIT: I have two URL links in that paragraph, they are just a little difficult to make out. Mouse over them to see.
A really solid choice! You won't carry as much as me and won't go in as rough terrain. But damn you will have a comfy apocalypse. And that thing is almost purpose built for the job to!
A trust worthy horse. Only need grass, water, and care. No need to look for gas, tires, batteries, parts, ect.. A black ford falcon with a supercharger sticking out the hood with external gas tanks would also be nice.
That's what I was thinking. But maybe it's there so he can't. Lady looks like she enjoys her Killing Blows.
