I know we've got some Space Western fans here so I thought I'd drop this link and share. http://io9.com/keep-flyin-an-exclus...utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
looks sweet, though, if they don't automatically translate curses into Chinese I will personally hunt down and shoot the developers XD https://www.keepflying.com/ for a game that's supposed to be coming out next summer, their website is -really- undeveloped, and slow.
Not sure how to feel about this, I really did love Firefly, it was a breath of fresh air into a then stale scifi scene. Is this just a cash, or a true attempt at giving a bite of Firefly to the fan..
I am a big fan of this but I am very concerned if this will live up to the show... but I will keep an eye on it for sure
I think you may just be surprised at how many Firefly fans there are. That being said, they're gonna have to do a helluva job not to disappoint those fans and drag them away from SC to play their game.
Do Fox still own the rights to Flyfly ? I would think Josh Whedon would not have any input into this and we all know firefly in any format can not work without JW.
Whedon is busy with the Avengers, and likely will be for the forseeable future, and as mentioned in the article hasn't had any input into the game. That said, the developers are supposedly big fans of the series, and while that doesn't automatically mean they've got what it takes to pull it off, it usually means they'll at least try their best, so the potential is there.
part of me is kinda excited for this, but then also I'm sitting here going would this project have ever seen the light of day if it wasn't for SC breaking every crowdfunding record over and over again. I'm sure I'll end up playing around with it at some point but I don't know how much holding power it will have for me.
I am a huge Firefly fan.. but I am not that excited about this. I also do not think this is marketable to most Firefly fans. If they did anything, a single player game would be better. Also reading about it, it sounds like more of a facebook game then anything.
Having fans of the show isn't enough. To be commercially viable, they need to be able to get and hold the attention of newcomers.
I think there is a firefly version of the 501st and rebel legion known as the browncoats as well that cover many states. I don't think they are as organized as the 501st or rebel legion though. but they do exist. I've heard of at least 4 browncoats groups (not counting the one in SC).
