They've stated they're trying to go for a CoD feel to it. But, it's free, I'll play it for a half hour.
And that's what I don't like. I HATE CoD. I think AAA cookie cutter we-release-a-new-one-every-six-months-with-no-real-changes games like it are killing the diversity in the gaming world.
Good thing we have indie devs and rarely even mainstream ones (particularly valves portal) that try new things quite often.
Indeed. I think major companies aversion to trying anything new anymore are what has birthed the "Indie Boom" in gaming. Not a bad thing.

Hawken wouldn't even need to have 'mechs and I'd still play it. What an amazing setting and incredible visuals.
If you mean the first Call of Duty, then that is a good thing. The first Call of Duty allowed for LAN play and was a lot of fun. My freshman year of college there was a LAN party club and we had meetings every wednesday night and we shared files and killed each other in warcraft 3 or call of duty.
Call of Duty is exactly the vibe they're shooting for. And I doubt it's the first one they're talking about. It looks pretty from a setting perspective, but god, when they show the "in cockpit" view it looks horrible from a gameplay standpoint. Jittery and ultra-fast. Actually, reminds me more of old Quake games than CoD. Pass.
Meh. I'll give a shit once it goes live. I might even give it a try. But I don't believe it holds a candle to Mechwarrior. Have to wait and see though.
I think it looks really interesting, and it doesn't really seem to be the same kind of game as MWO IMO.
Oh, I agree with you on the "not the same game" thing, but most people of the masses will see "Oh, two giant 'mech games."
I am now actively looking forward to Hawken. I just hope it's almost as customizable as MechWarrior generally is.
