The warhammer universe is supposed super dark and gritty. The Tau are by and large pretty decent people, with a functional (if rigid) society and no real xenopobia. They even have humans and other races living in relative peace with them. Maybe Games Workshop is just embarressed about making them.
This is lubricant for my machinery. They must not allow the workers to rest, the game must come out soon and without any bugs! Lasso all the programmers and artists and right click on this game!
Not that I'm unhappy for this game existing, but does anyone else have the feeling that if not for Star Citizen's meteoric rise, this game never would have been considered? At least we know that Benny the "1980-something space-guy" is happy.
That's why I like the Tau, they are the good guys of the universe. Humans are worse then the orks IMO.
Obviously people have had a ton of space related ideas that were "banned" by investors because "space games are a niche category and highly unprofitable" and devs were being told to forget about space and make ww2 or modern shooters and rpg's. Later even being told "PC is dying, make mobile games". I'm very thankful that now we're actually seeing some real money being invested to space games. I know I fucking love space games. I never get the same satisfaction from, say, fantasy.
Yeah, brutally subjugating and using mind control devices on the vespid and other races is totally a good guy thing to do.
Considering Staller impact came before Star Citizen and this is a complete Let's look at the people that Games Workshop wants us to cheer for. They actively seek out and murder everything that isn't human, regardless of whether it poses any real threat. They allow the inquisition to hunt down and execute anyone with a dissenting opinion with no form of trial or due process. The have medical technology capable of keeping people healthy through extreme age and diseases, but reserve it for the highest ranks of society, allowing everyone else to live in so much filth and pollution that the average life expectancy is around 50. Their military is so inept that it relies almost entirely on consription to get any soldiers, then equips them with poor weaponry and armor, and follows a basic "charge and shoot until there's nothing to shoot" strategy. The best gear is reserved for genetically engineered super soldiers who help the rest of the military on a "when we feel like it" basis. They are not resented for this, but held up as the Emperor's "Angels". They regard machines as a kind of magic, and so little interest is taken in how they actually work that no advancements whatsoever has taken place in thousands of years. Government corruption is so rampant that its diffcult to find a politician who isn't corrupt, but this is overlooked as long a they get tax money and continue to go to church. And finally, no other race was capable of so much hatred and evil that they created four seperate chaos lords, who then became their worst enemies. Even the Eldar only created one such chaos lord (Slaanesh). And Games Workshop wants us to LIKE these people? They take the absolute WORST that humanity has to offer, and built an entire empire based on it. They never change, never learn, never grow, and never improve anything. All they do is spread xenophobia and fear to everything they touch. I'd live in the Tau Empire in a heartbeat, and then get murdered by the imperium for being "tainted". At least if I was being mind controlled I would think I was happy. The Imperium of man is a place without any hope or happiness. Everything is does is done for the sole purpose of making sure tommorow is exactly like today. Yeah, the Tau brainwash people, but they let them live in relative happiness, and in the Warhammer universe that's the best you'll ever get.
I never said the imperium was good, just that the Tau are also bad. Horus was right bro, let the galaxy burn.
Yeah, they're not saints, they're just the best thing going for a human in this universe. The illusion of happiness is the best you'll ever get. It really irritates me sometimes that Games Workshop treats the Imperium like their golden child while the other races get only a fraction of the development.
When 75%+ of your sales are space marines, that creates a pretty vicious cycle for development. On the plus side (for me) the mechanicum is getting a full release apparently.
The Emperor is the physical manifestation of law in the universe. He represents absolute stasis. In his ideal universe, nothing would ever change or evolve. Every day would be exactly like every other day. Every intelligent creature would be of the same race, follow the same ideals, and have the same opinions. So in a sense, neither the Emperor or the chaos lords or good or evil. They are just absolute law and absolute chaos. The emperor is what keeps humanity from changing, while the chaos lords want humanity to change without regard for the cost. I may get a little annoyed at GW sometimes, but I will talk 40k lore all freaking day.
