also for those who have forgotten that shipbreakers is still coming (and a homeworld prequel. though some things say sequel. it is officially a homeworld game though).

they could be doing the remastered games since they are the ones who originally did them. i wonder if they will remaster cataclysm

In regards to Cataclysm, from what I've read, the source code is more difficult for gearbox to find. After Sierra and Barking Dog dissolved, Relic would have had the only copy, and their archiving situation is unknown at the moment. The most recent article I could find was over a year old, but at the time, it didn't look like there were any copies left.
well cataclysm installed from my disc but it's stopping before it goes to the menu. EDIT: FUCK YEAH. PATCHED TO 1.01 AND IT WORKS!. if you still have disk you need to patch (issue isn't windows 7 OS but newer graphics cards. also I put mine in windows NT compatability though XP should work). also ever wanted pilot view in homeworld? I completely forgot cataclysm had it. no modification. I don't think you can control the ship though in pilot view.
I know there's a whole "no more preorders" think going on right now, but I think I need to preorder this.
yeah... i would think this one is safe to pre-order. my only worry is that occasionally these remakes have things cut from the original. not saying that is the case here... just be aware. did HW have expansions? i hope they are included.
Cataclysm isn't an expansion it's a completely stand alone game. takes place roughly 50 years after homeworld 1. You don't even need homeworld 1 installed to install cataclysm.
Stand alone expansion. The point was that the original copies of the source code are gone, so the physical copies floating around are the last ones left.
amazing when you think how even a completed product could be lost like that. makes me think back to all the games i used to play that are now essentially vaporware. dust in the wind, etc.
which is sad considering cataclysm is by far the best of the 3 games. pilot view of individual ships? yes (and you could give them orders still you couldn't "fly" the sip though). force field/shields? yes which when fully upgraded they could stop every weapon (though enough firepower they could drop pretty fast and they were produced by really small ships so it wasn't ships produced their own shields) level system for ships? yep so weapons do more damage (I think at max level they do 1.5 to 2 times the base) and armor (health) goes up. I think speed might but not certain. also the goddamn archangel dreadnaught for kiith somtaaw. had 4 mass driver turrets and 2 missile banks and because (lorewise) the rear was vulnerable what do they decide to add? not 2 more mass driver turrets but 2 ion cannon turrets. basically everything you wished was in the UI/gameplay in homeworld 1 and 2 was in cataclysm. I think they used a different engine (and maybe scrapped alot of the UI/gameplay stuff) in 2 for ease of moddability. but the downgrade in race tech in 2 was a disappointment as well. for me personally. Hell at some point in cataclysm they replace the mass drivers with energy cannons that track their target (as in the plasma round tracks the target). they were not crazy more powerful in damage then the mass drivers were.
I really loved Cataclysm. I wonder if the cd is anywhere to be found... I basically lost all of my stuff over 10 years ago, then I've only been able to restore a couple of odd items and group pictures from army but not much else. And a random selection from my game collection.
