Actually I agree with them. I think it's highly unlikely that Blizzard will eve do another offline game. Battle.net is working too well for them right now.

But StarCraft II campaigns are not multiplayer either. They're singleplayer and you can play the game offline after registering.

I don't know. I know I played Wings of Liberty offline a lot with my laptop when it came out and I didn't have wifi at school. At least back then it worked alright.

Haven't really tried intentionally plugging my desktop offline to verify if it's still viable.

I think it was actually that scores are not recorded.

with a registered copy, as Sheep said, you can "log" into Bnet offline and access all the SC2 campains offline. No Achievments/Co-Op/Multiplayer....you know things you need to be online for. But once you own the game and Blizzard knows you own it you can play offline. SCtarcraft is one of my go to games when internet is fucked up. I just pulled the phone line out of my modem and tested the offline play.

Really enjoyed the campaign, from prologue to epilogue (separate minicampaigns).

Liked the story and the gameplay - playing the campaigns is very different from playing multiplayer and you can't use the same tricks. For instance you may be set up to defend a location against multiple enemies with different tech tree than in multiplayer so playing campaigns is it's own separate game for all intents and purposes.

All of the stuff about what are cost effective units in MP etc. goes down the toilet because by default the sides are never starting from equal footing in campaign and also there are a lot of special rules, super weapons and tech present that aren't balanced for MP but which work perfectly for the campaign. For instance Stalkers can be replaced by Dragoons from SC I and you can use Carriers - and during campaign you can get repair drones for your carriers that not only repair the hull of the carrier but also of any nearby owned units. Protoss with autorepair essentially.

During the campaign you unlock new troops and you can actually design your army by choosing which unit from each category you wish to field - for instance you'll have multiple choice of non-MP units for melee, for stealth, siege etc. roles in your army composition and you can change the army composition from battle to battle as they are not locked and don't spend any resource.

You also get 'power' for your capital ship which acts as a more permanent base of operations through the campaign and you can channel the power to various systems on your capital ship to gain special abilities and bonuses that will benefit you during missions.

I'm getting back into it. The campagin is enjoyable but achievments are quite hard on hard difficulty (which means the difficulty is scaled correctly).
If anyone wants to add me for some games on EU my battletag is Bloodbum #2243.
