i played for a few hours and was pretty meh about it. it's beautiful but the gameplay is incredibly shallow. the vehicles are hilariously bad in terms of handling and mechanics (even far cry had the ability to repair vehicles with your torch), the lack of controls for flight is frustrating. the gunplay is simple but satisfying. stealth is OP but taking off the silencers makes for some enjoyable shootouts. it's a mindlessly fun game, and the story seems like it'll be alright. i'll wait for a sale before picking it up but i do intend to play it at some point down the road.

tl:dr - this is "far cry: tacticool," not ghost recon

Yeah, I got the impression from someone (Solo maybe?) that it's fun, but not a game we would still be playing 3 months later. I like the Ghost Recon franchise, but this is a bit of a deal-breaker for me. I heard it's much better than The Division, but I'm going to have to wait and see on this one.

the replay value is approximately zero. once you've played the story and gotten the collectibles (if you're into that) i don't think there will be any reason to start over or keep playing

also comparing this to the division is definitely an apples/oranges thing. division is definitely a gear-grinding RPG game a la diablo, PoE, or borderlands. wildlands everybody dies from a headshot (as you'd expect) but the AI is predictably bad. stealth is OP and you'll never be seen if you don't want to be, i literally watched an enemy and a AI teammate bump into each other as my bro got into position but because we were crouching the guys just bumped around his geometry. the shot timing feature is cool but i always just felt bad. even if you do get swarmed in a firefight though (which you'll initiate most of the time just to spice things up) and you die from the laser-beam accuracy of the enemies you'll either get rezzed by your teammates (even AI ones) or just respawn outside the engagement zone you were in without any issue.

the game is super casual but it's fun for what it is. i'm still annoyed they keep slapping the tom clancy name on shit that isn't hardcore tactical like the old school TC name was tied to but i'll definitely buy this game when it drops into the $25-30 range. it's beautiful (seriously) and will be a good way to just game & chill

So this game is basically Baby's First Arma. On the highest difficulty setting, it requires very similar tactics, but is easier on aiming the weapons, and is WAY easier to drop in and play. Obviously it has less replay value because the bases and so forth are all preset, but it's still loads of fun with co-op. Single player is just okay. Fun for a while, but doesn't have enough personality to make me care about any of the characters.

    Highlight from last night:

Solomance, Krooked, and I spent almost an hour infiltrating an airbase on the salt flats. Krooked and I were providing sniper fire from the edges, while Solo snuck in and secured an informant. Things were going amazing until a booboo at the end got the informant shot. For our next attempt we went in together (and loud) and managed to get to the informant, get the info, and exfiltrate by stealing a plane. It was awesome.

And I bet Solo was complaining the entire time about not having LRMS.

A few of us have been playing this the last little bit. It might not be strictly tactical milsim, but it's really damn enjoyable for what it is (so long as you max out the difficulty).

    Also, here's this:
