There is a rumor (who knows how valid the sources are) that bioware is currently developin a remake/reboot of KoToR. And only doing star wars games for the immidiate future. Which then makes me wonder if disney pulled the game rights from EA and gave them to someone else http://www.pcgamer.com/rumor-a-new-kotor-game-is-in-development-at-bioware-austin/
This makes more sense. I guess bioware is mostly focusing on something new. So could still happen just not anytime soon. A case of people focusing on the wrong words.
Well seeing as Bioware is owned by EA, I doubt they pulled it then, wouldn't be surprised if disney was in the process of canonizing the Kotor series though
Probably more of an indefinite hold while they figure out how to tie it (storywise) into the universe besides just being star wars and the tech.
personally I'd love to see Disney buy Bioware out of EA, or better yet, buy EA and burn the entire executive staff.
TOR is cannon afaik. since the rights are owned by a company other then Disney and they were set cannon by the previous owner (Lucas) until Disney owns KO/TOR they cant just say outright that it is all bullshit. As EA isn't going to give up any sort of SW rights until the supreme court is involved....Id say they will keep it cannon. They have already hinted at TOR things in the current movies. No one can tell me Kylo isn't wearing a helm inspired by TOR helms. Some other little things pop up here and there like the star map used in Ep 7 has all TOR planets in the correct locations. Now that Rogue One has proven that an....outside Star Wars movie can be made (outside the OG storyline) I think Disney will warm up to the idea of TOR.
Also i think when disney said evrything besides the movies was now legends i think they were mostly talking everything post episode 6. Not sure if they went one way or the other on anything before episode 1.
