Reviews of Beta so far: http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/sea-of-thieves http://bgr.com/2018/01/31/sea-of-thieves-beta-review/ https://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-moments-from-the-sea-of-thieves-beta/ These are by no means definitive, but should give a better idea of what to expect. Biggest complaint I have read so far is that the game is a bit repetitive. I recommend waiting for purchase until more details are made clear.
I haven't looked at the starting cost, but considering our intent for this game if it's under $20 it'll probably be worth it, if not we just wait for it to be on sail... >.>
For the price of $60? Oh wow. I played in beta and the game was "nice". Nothing too special. Gameplay isn't deep and there isn't much to do. Sure it would be fun to play as a multiplayer co-op, but for that price no.. just no. Like Damion said, if the price would be under $20 then I might think to buy it.
I'm still hesitant to spend $60 on a game that has been reported to not have a lot of depth in content, but here is another review that seems fairly measured: Sea of Thieves seems very competent, but there's a lot of other games coming out that I'm more excited about and there's only so much time in the week I can spend with video games. At best, I think this is a wait for sale for me.

many missions. 3 differe"guilds" raids and "general fucking around killing others...the little bit i got to play was "worth it"
I did want to mention that anybody who has the xboxlive game pass thing, has sea of thieves and is "in" the beta. If you want to play with me
I happened to be listening to my traditional folk and shanties channel on Pandora, because that is a thing that I do, and remembered that this game is a thing. Granted the only 'free time' I ever get is after 8pm and I rarely play the games I already have in that time, but I'll probably pick it up, cause I gotta haul on that bowline, the bowline haul.
So one interesting thing is you can get the Xbox game pass for 14 days free for a trial and $10 per month after that and can get sea of thieves included. Because this is a Microsoft title it will work for pc as well. This is applicable to other Microsoft titles going forward. State of decay 2 is coming up and will be available this way.
I am going to do the game pass and at least get the 14 day trial. At worst I pay another $10 for another month.
