I didn't really care for RyanCentral's videos posted earlier. His channel seems to exist solely to advertise for Anthem; not exactly a reliable source.

However, in fairness to the game, I did find some other videos that seems to give it a pretty fair shake on the general development of Anthem:

Between this news and the announcement of a playable demo, yeah, there's at least something here to hope for. However, I personally will be reserving my final decision on the game for after release.

For anyone who is interested in this game, I still have a harder question that remains unanswered, though (and I don't expect anyone to honestly answer it right now): is this a game that will stick with you or is this just another flavor of the month? My question is hypothetical at this point, but I feel it is important to mention because I'm really going to be pissed if I end up paying $60 for a game from EA only to find out all the people here who said "give it a chance" stopped playing after the honeymoon period.

    Just saying.

Does that mean you'll finally be taking me out on that date you promised? I'm a classy bitch.

Fair warning, I've never been the type to put 1000+ hours into a game. I'll probably play it until I get bored and then move to something else. If I hit 200 hours in it that will put it in the top 10 percent or so for me. There's only 2 or 3 games I've ever hit 300 in.

But who knows. Maybe this will be one to hit 1000.

There's a very few games I've put more than 100 hours in, Warframe being a notable exception. I usually consider a game 'worth it' if I play more hours than I spend dollars on it. I may have to cut Star Citizen a break, because I only have 2500 hours in Warframe and I've been playing it for almost a decade :p

    Yeah, I think that's a pretty fair metric for me too; 1hr = $1.

To be honest, these days its more time being the factor than money. I realize that's not the same for everyone, though. Only so much I can do in one week and still be productive. I guess that's why I'm so hesitant to spend time on a new thing if I don't see it going anywhere.

same, as games work towards becoming greater and greater time sinks, I have to be more selective of which I choose to partake in because I seem to have less and less available time to make use of.

Pretty much how I always saw games. For every dollar I should get that number of hours of enjoyment out of the game. Which is now why I wait for games to be on half off sales. Because alot arn't worth $60. Though with star citizen I decided to divide that by 10 (amount spent divided by 10). So uh. I should get 100 plus hours out of SC.

I would have to do some math with my blizzard games which would be counting by months for total time played.

Think my main character is sitting around 200 total days played. Will have to check when I get off work.

I also took around a 4 year break or more from WoW.

The older mmorpg are massive time sinks.

Most mmorpg now seem to be about instant gratification or paying to bypass the time sink.

Storytelling is no longer the backbone of a good mmorpg.

I think since I have Origin Access I get 3 demo invites for the one starting on the 25th, need to check my origin acct how to do that... let me know if anyone's interested, there's an open demo on the first of Feb I think.

So mostly weapon balance, a bit on PC controls, and general economy. So mostly things that are fairly easy to adjust on their end, core gameplay should still be the same.

The VIP demo is 6 weeks behind the release code. They will also introduce a social hub for the release, but it will not be in the demo.

Played the Demo and it seemed fun even though the world wasn't fully fleshed out. I've been thinking of pre-ordering the game.

I've heard the same thing; that the game is pretty and presents well enough, but flawed by stability issues and bugs.

Here's hoping that these issues are limited to the older demo version, but I'm definitely waiting until after I see some full release reviews for this. I would still caution against pre-ordering this.

It's gotten more stable since yesterday. The infinite loading bug hasn't happened to me this afternoon at all in solo play. And the bug with unlocking the second javelin is gone, so I was able to do that.

I think there's a public demo next week as well.

@25:00 mark: I would expect it to be resolved by launch, but lag is apparently still really bad for some people.

I'm really not a fan of the bulletsponge enemies either, but again... not the final product.
