Sure, no prob. When you have time, be sure to review the links provided above in the OP so you can be aware of what the ongoing discussions are. For the purposes of this weekend sale, I'm attempting to funnel conversations here, but not everyone has gotten the memo.
I do have a couple of questions. 1. How will a game be chosen to play on a given night? If its by the majority in attendance, I can see one or 2 crowd favorites edging the other games out. 2. Tabletop Simulator can cover a plethora of table top games. From my understanding, it could be its own whole subcategory. How will you choose which game to pick from TS in a timely manner that doesnt hold Wahlord Wednesday up?
I'd like to see some kinda system where with some advance notice we decide what we're gonna play for a given event. My hard drive and bandwidth can only accommodate so much. The weekly ones are easy enough, I can most of the time keep the couple games I'm playing up to date, but when we have a big event it's a kind of frustrating exercise in figuring out what everybody even has.
Good questions. I think it will come down to who is willing to organize and schedule an event. If no one is willing to organize a chosen game (even if popular among us), there is little chance of it getting a scheduled slot in the week. Scheduled events will probably be prioritized based on popularity, but I want to try to accommodate needs as they come. If a smaller group can only meet at a specific time during the week, we will do what we can to work around that. That's a good point. I figure if it really gains popularity, we could dedicate its own day. Otherwise, we can simply fit it into the regular rotation of other games we play for Wednesday. For TTS, I'm hoping to focus on card/board games that can be completed easily in one sitting. As far as specific games go, it was my impression that Magic the Gathering and Battletech CCG would be good choices for us, but I'm certainly open to more suggestions regarding that. Somewhat related, I'm hoping to trim the fat a bit on recommended games after we complete these polls. Our game selection for community activities should be so that every game we recommend should have good replayability. I've been trying to steer people that way, but yes, I agree. I figure the polls will help us identify what people are actually interested in playing and from there it will be easier to coordinate what is needed for events and when.
Speaking of which: It is my understanding you can play with more than 2 people as well (don't know the upper limit on that). If other games I've seen are any indication, we should be able to easily fit at least 8 people, but possibly more. So during our meeting, we came to a general agreement that if you are looking to buy ONE game during this sale, let Tabletop Simulator be that game. It just simply offers so much content for only $10 that we would be nuts not to do something with it. Everyone has played board games. Even if you aren't into hardcore rpg's, there is definitely something here for everyone. The fact that many of these games are available for free as mods in TTS is icing on the cake. That being said, we also discussed a lot of other titles and their potential within our group. While we don't want to go so far as to say "everyone go buy these games right now", we do have some good ideas for the future. Finally, let me remind everyone that if you have any games you want to add to our poll, we are taking nominations right now.
