Only the Dawn of War 1 & 2 bundles I can strongly recommend from this list, but I wanted to make it known to everyone here. We have a lot of Warhammer fans. Would be nice if we can all find something here we can play together (READ: DoW1 bundle is less than $10!!) DoW 2 is very good too, but its multiplayer and map selection is far more limited. There are a few others that are good, but be wary of most of them. The games of the Warhammer franchise have a very spotty record. For example, the Total War ones are okay, but it's mostly enjoyed as a solo affair. I would also like to remind everyone that Warlord Wednesday exists specifically for games like these. Dawn of War I is really good in all its versions. And an RTS recommendation from me is really worth something. Also Inquisitor: Martyr is getting a major gameplay overhaul + an expansion on the 28th that overhuals the game's pace, loot tables, level progression, and maps, voicework, etc. I'm thinking personally about grabbing it, but at the moment, it doesn't quite have my seal of approval.
IMPORTANT!: We did some testing tonight with it and due to Relic games essentially being in "maintenance mode", anyone who owns non-Steam versions of these games will not be able to play multiplayer. To play multiplayer DoW 1 with us, you ONLY need Soulstorm (it has all the content unlocked). The other expansions in the DoW 1 bundle are mostly interesting for their solo campaigns. Many of us own DoW 2 too, but if you have to pick one, get Soulstorm first.
When I hosted a multiplayer lobby (only have Soulstorm and Game of the Year edition), the factions from the other expansions (Imperial Guard, Necron, & Tau) were greyed out for me on the selection screen. Further testing is required.
I might have been going off of bad info. Originally, I thought that each expansion added new factions to your game (Winter Assault = Imperial Guard, Dark Crusade = Tau & Necrons), but someone said that Soulstorm had them all and that's what we should get. I checked this, and it did indeed have all of them for me, but I forgot I had the other expansions installed... so of course they would all show up for me. The good news is that if you have Soulstorm, "technically" we can still play together, but... it appears that without the other expansions, you will be limited in your selection. Sorry that we did not realize this until after the sale was over, though
No worries. Orc says he has just Soulstorm, but he still gets access to most of the factions. We are pretty sure it's just missing the Guard, Tau, and Necrons.
