Yo, all you stay safe. I have 3 friends all sick w this shit with compromised immune systems and one that should be on a ventilator but there is no room at the hospital. That one we are pretty sure will not last. Most of my friends are touring musicians and those of us that work day jobs are helping support them. Take care of yourselves and each other.

With State of Emergency the hospital staff have had their Collective Agreement terms and Work Legislation suspended for the time being and they have been ordered to stay at work.

The morale is getting quite low at the hospital and a many of the staff were crying and desperate - they're not getting any rest and many are out on sick leave and now they fear that we'll soon be ordering sick ones to work like in Italy, they're saying it feels like being forced labor and also forced to be exposed to it all without having any protection.

Over here no one is getting any help - if you lose your job you lose it. If you can't pay your rent you'll get evicted.

At least you can argue with the school and day care authorities to try and get to keep your child there so you won't lose your job, I mean, at least that's a life line for some.

It will take some two more weeks before we'll be seeing the effects of current levels of quarantine upon the spread - or it would if we were actually testing people large scale and so. Right now we won't even know because the standing order is not to get tested if you don't require immediate medical attention - stay at home.

Ultimately I view this as a collective inconvenience to save potentially millions of lives - something we're in together, a natural disaster in the form of a virus.
And personally I'm glad we were hit with just this. It could be a lot worse - we could have been hit with something that kills 20-60% of infected.

For the future I'd like to see a lot lower threshold for shutting down airports and crossing points and the ability to quarantine travelers in separated rooms with access to food and medical attention. Essentially appropriate quarantine facilities by airports and other such points. And above all a low threshold for using quarantine protocols in the future. I mean, imagine if we had been hit with something that starts spreading after 2 days but shows first symptoms after 2 weeks and that spreads aerially - and if it were a bacteria it could survive on surfaces for months or years and it would continue to recur for decades to come. We would lose more than a hundred million people easily.

For the future I hope the authorities will wake up to how lacking and inefficient their response and capabilities are.

I wish politicians would remember that part of their job is to protect their citizens.

    :Edit:
I checked the investment forum and a lot of folks are mixed, many are not going to let people get away with any rent but some were saying that a good tenant was worth an incidental loss of a rent or two. Most were OK with figuring out an extension but some said that they were not because they didn't think they'd ever get their money.

Motherfucker. I had to go in for a stupid fucking check up appointment before insurance started bitching about it being more than 90 days after getting my new CPAP and the fucking woman who comes in behind me had a fever last Friday and a god damn dry cough, no mask. I kept my ass on the opposite side of the fucking room and disinfected everything multiple times, no face touching.

Try being in retail. Every 10 to 20 minutes some assclown comes through coughing everywhere constantly onto everything and giving zero fucks about what they are doing.

So with that being said. Also stay the hell out of retail stores because they could be completely infected.

My job is considered essential and I still have to work (social worker). I get to be home the next couple of days and work remotely, but that is because of the big snowstorm. I live in between two nice city parks, there are tons of kids out there playing together. It's crazy here (Wyoming). Everyone is either over-panicked or completely unconcerned. SMH

I just received notice that we are remote only until April 6th, and no clients are to be allowed at our office building. They will be bringing me a work cell phone (I live 50 miles from the office). In addition, our director said that Colorado is considering a complete traffic shut down in/out of the state (most of our shipping comes through Colorado).

I'm wondering how many of the 'recovered' people who are 'reinfected' actually are reinfected or they just are not recovered. Like they are still infected when they are considered recovered.

(I haven't seen any news saying that. It's just my own thinking).

My understanding is that you can still carry after recovery, the cases that were "reinfected" all have been traced back to people who had not actually fully recovered but relapsed.

Made it back to the states, the plane out of country was full then the one back into the states seemed to be about 2/3 full. My friend flew out yesterday and the planes were at most 50% loaded as the rush of people to get back to the states while you still can is starting to wind down. Word is that one regional airline that wasn't doing well to start with just closed up. Going to be really interesting to see how it all plays out.

In the meantime people seem to think that I'm joking when I say that I'm planning on a 1 to 3 month quarantine, I'm so thrilled to not have idiots trying to blow me up anymore, I'm planning on making the most out of being a bum at home!!

edit, as I type this a second regional airline will shut down. Both Compass and Trans State Airlines will shut down on April 7 and 1 respectively.

The reinfected people can be of a few things.

    1. The symptoms went away but still had the virus and shedding it with then being sent home as recovered.

    2. The symptoms go away and get a false negative on the test.

    3. The person recovers with a true negative test but then gets a secondary infection from a bacteria.

So things that have now been put in place to stop this depending on country.

They are testing with deep nasal swabs and must come back with two negative tests at 2 to 3 days apart.

They are giving antibiotics to combat potential bacteria infections.

South Korea is keeping people in isolation for 2 weeks after they recover.

The letting people go after symptoms go away is one of the reasons Europe is exploding with cases right now.

At the start there was three Germans that had been infected by a Chinese woman that was there for work reasons teaching people. They did all the tracing, testing, and treatments for them. After the symptoms went away they discharged them out of the hospital because it was standard procedure. they understood at the time they were still shedding the virus and highly contagious. They even made a note of this in a medical journal they released.

Fast forward a month or so and a company doing the mutation ancestry of the virus has linked a very large portion of Europe’s current outbreak back to these original 3 Germans.

This is supposed to be our future generation of smart people.

I cant believe they are this stupid. Maybe they will be thinned out with natural selection when they all get sick.

The thing that is really pissing me off with target right now, I dont know if its just my store or all but. They are still having people come in to work that are 60 to 70 years old or people with compromised immune systems. They are coming in and interacting with people nonstop because of the type of work they do. They should be just sending them home and just paying them the hours they cant work right now.

Many are still only seeing this as a minor threat, this is only the beginning of things to come. Hopefully some of the big corps will recognize early and show that they are still run by humans, but there's little can be done about that on a local level. All we can do individually is work the best with the circumstances we're given.

Intel is trying to keep the fab running with Skype. Seriously. I mean they're already in a clean environment and wearing bunny suits but all the infrastructure around it is where the risk lies, why not just shut down and let people go home and be safe?

Edit: I assure you, they can afford it.

Retail is one, I have a couple of friends as nurses and now they're considering extending the emergency laws if need be so that

it would be impossible to resign from work and to stay home would also have you dragged to work

I mean, they want to be there, help and so despite getting exposed. But just think of how it feels when the government is considering forcing you to be at work and do daily overtime. Already now a lot of their co-workers have been calling in sick for regular cold or so and even before these laws are in effect they have to now have their own rest cancelled and cover for those that are now staying home with the potential promise of the police possibly dragging them to work without right to resign.

It's really not that they don't want to be there and work long or that they don't understand the situation - just that imagine how it would feel to know that you're not allowed to have a mental breakdown.

I wont say which hospital but apparently they are having any doctors who have tested positive for covid-19 stay at the hospital all the time and only treating patients who are positive. Implication being they cannot leave the hospital at all. So my coworker is concerned his wife who is an anesthesiologist is going to have to stay at the hospital. They have two small kids. This is a private hospital, so I suppose they can do whatever they want.
