I mean I understand the reasoning (so people would know it is Anakin for the filthy casuals to know it is him). But I still didn't like it. So in the original theatrical release of episode 4 did Han shoot first? Because it always looks like they shot at the same time but Han being Han moved his head just before Greedo pulled the trigger and thus dodged the shot.

Didn't you know? That was one of the three cardinal questions they decided to answer in the Solo movie. Han shot first, how the fuck is a parsec travelled an indication of speed, and what the hell is the Kessel run. It could also be to answer the question as to whether Han won the Falcon fair and square like he claimed or not.

In the theatrical version, Greedo didn't shoot at all. Han just straight up iced him.

See, this is one of the things I hate about Lucas, I didn't mind him making the updates with the times, but I hated that he completely deleted the original content. I mean to the best of his ability of course.

Huh. Now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever seen the original theatrical release. I think the first one I saw was the first special edition (I think it's the first since it was on VHS still. I don't DVDs had even been invented)

It's certainly more common in games to see the old content revised ad nauseam - but only when there's the cash around to do so.

Certainly as a story teller you should not be *constantly* changing how the events folded or the very nature of your characters.

What I came to post in this thread was however that Disney's CEO Bob Iger was fired. In his 15 years he multiplied the value of Disney and in general he was doing rather well up until the massive clusterfuck of a fiasco when they bought the most fail safe brand in the galaxy and still somehow managed to lose ridiculous billions worth of brand value and potential sales for the sake of getting to take a poke at people he and his trustees didn't like. Or merely giving an OK to his lieutenants to have a go at it, either way the shareholders finally decided that enough was enough.

While this does not result in immediate and obvious change in direction it raises hopes for it - for the folks who have been quite successfully pushing for a more positive and tolerant kind of Star Wars to potentially gain more say and influence over the future of the brand. One can hope, right?

Why do people think Ezra will be in season 2 of the mandalorian? Since there is supposed to be a sequel series to rebels I would assume that is Sabine and ahsoka finding him. So doesn't really make sense for him to be in the mandalorian.

I think 95% of the "wishful fan theories" don't make any sense.

I detect they are formed by an algorith of

"I know a character X, there is a show going called A. Thus I think that X is going to appear in show A"

Often these theories don't even consider timelines such as when characters are born or have died or how long they ought to be able to live, that the galaxy is fricking massive place and so on. Just because a character exists and someone likes it it doesn't follow that the character must thus appear in the latest show too.

    That's an anime thing.

Or character Y and Z show up in show A so there character X must also be in show A. Because last we saw X and Z met up to go search for X (Sabine an ahsoka leave shortly after episode 6 to go search for Ezra.
But that the dark saber. And we last saw bo-katan had it in rebels.

Huh. We don't have a thread for The Mandalorian. And I don't feel like creating a thread.

Who wants some spoilers (okay they are only timeline stuff but I'll put them in a spoiler tag anyways.)

I keep seeing stuff about how "oh no Grogu is going to be killed by Kylo"

Well the show takes place in 9 ABY. and Ben doesn't even start training with Luke till 15 ABY. So Grogu has 5-6 years to train and I'm betting he is mostly trained already just suffering trauma from order 66 which set him back. Yoda was a master by the time he was 100

It also says Ben trains with Luke for a few years before the Academy is built So I'm guessing the Academy is built in 18-20 ABY. The destruction of the academy is in 28 ABY. So 5-6 years before Ben starts training, 9-11 years before the Academy is built and 21 before it is destroyed. I'm going to go with Grogu is trained/helped through Trauma and gone before Ben begins his training.

This is what we get when we give an anime nerd the Star Wars license.
