My schedule is borked, but if game nights for this get set up, I'll try to make them.

I have a copy of this, and it is fun. It plays like Supreme Commander, but tends to be a little faster paced. Games are usually like 15 - 20 minutes for against a normal AI on one planet. And I'm not particularly efficient.

Not opposed to it, but just to put this in perspective:

Honest question: how is this different from Supreme Commander?... the good one, not the crappier sequel.

Related question: I know many of us own SupCom:FA and it's currently only $2.59 on Steam (I just noticed this). I'm willing to buy Planetary Annihilation when it's on sale if we are serious about it, but it being $40 right now might be asking a lot for some people. Perhaps SupCom would be a good alternative until PlanetAnni is available on sale? I don't know, just asking.

Supreme Commander actually has a larger scale overall. I know that seems off with the whole solar system deal this has going, but each planet is fairly small compared to an SC map.

The economy works exactly the same.

Teching in PA is a little easier because there are only two tiers of units, and T1 units stay somewhat useful later on. In SC, if you can afford the T2 stuff, there's not much reason to use T1. The difference doesn't seem to be quite as pronounced here. It does matter, it just won't make or break the game.

Experimentals/Titans are basically the same thing.

PA allows you to flip the table and walk away by blowing the planet up. This works even if you're on it, so you can absolutely just kill everyone in the game, including yourself.

Honestly, it's not a HUGE difference. If you already have SC, I wouldn't spend another $40 on this.

If PA has more polish, I'm certainly cool with that. Maybe the most sensible action would be to keep an eye out for a PA sale, but while we wait, we can run SupCom:FA when people are willing.

I've only seen two or three people on Discord that have voted in favor of SupCom so far whenever I bring it up. I assume this is because people busy or more interested in PA than SupCom, but if the two are somewhat similar... well... I don't want to draw conclusions. I say this not to discourage people, but rather to encourage those who are interested to do this to get involved.
