We have one mech slot that can be picked by the community for the upcoming campaign. It will be part of our starting forces (6 mechs total). Here are the ground rules:

    1. Must be a Mech that is in the PC game (see link provided below)
    2. Must cost 5 million or less C-bills.
    Mech list:

Discuss and write in your vote below!

We will announce our pick on Monday!

FYI: Here are the Mechs that our Tournament Winners picked. This may help you all make a decision:
    • Trev - Hatchetman 3F - short range
    • Orc - Phoenix Hawk 1 - short range
    • Tzeentch - Vulcan 2T - short range
    • GM pick - Vindicator 1R - long range
Don't worry if your favorite doesn't get picked. There will be plenty of opportunities to salvage new ones after the campaign has begun.

I personally want to try for a PNT-9R, but I wouldn't vote for that for the community choice. COM-2D has been a favorite starter of mine since MW2 Mercs, so I think I'll throw my vote in there.

Are these updated numbers from the game Magnus? I thought some mechs, like the Hatchetman, ended up over 5 mil.

Second question, could we hear what the other mechs we have are to maybe see what is missing?

Putting in my vote for a Vindicator 1R as a support mech lobbing LRMs from 2 LRM-15s

I second this vote, though for different reasons.
the difference between them are pretty non-existent, and switching out the JJ for armor is a no brainer. Otherwise they're basically the same mech. I like that there's a few rare versions in the FRR. (Timeline is non-specific)

Think I'll third this, I'm trying to build a fire support character.

I could be bribed into supporting other missile mechs though

I checked all the mechs in game under 5 mil and none can bulk up the lurm like the Vindy 1R

The Vindy 1R is the closest to my preferred loadout, the Hatchetman 3F is also very nice and would be my second choice. The Phoenix Hawk 1 is another possibility but I'm afraid might be a little light on armor and heat sinks.

I pondered both of those as well myself for a vote MH

Hatchetman is a bit more specialized than a “community mech” should be shooting for. And comes with higher risk of destruction or being out on repair more of the time

Phawk is a good mech but another close range one. And there are some pretty decent odds of getting one via our Heavy Metal chest

These are my opinions and you should all vote your minds. Sharing my thoughts

Very good points on those. The Hatchetman is definitely a bit more specialized, and while a play style that I have enjoyed before, it is not one that is necessarily easy for a new player to jump into. Good call on the heavy metal, hadn't thought of that.

For my own vote, I too agree that the Vindticator 1R should be the pick. The single fact that it has more tonnage to play with than most (all?) other mechs on the list is a huge factor. We already have 3 short range highly mobile mechs. With the Heavy Metal loot box you get in-game, we will likely get one more. The Vindicator 1R will serve as a nice anchor to any lance. It can be the fire support the other more mobile mechs need and it will give us greater flexibility in mech selection dependiing on the mission.

as promised, we will announce the results of this poll tonight (after Mech Monday). The consensus seems to be pointing towards the Vindy 1R, but there is still time for more of our community to weigh in.
