Wondering if there are any other Android fans/users out there. If so, what are you running? I'm running AOKP Jelly Bean nightlies right now on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Had a Desire, gave it to my gf and got a HTC one X recently. The desire ran CM7/9 depending on how much I wanted to play around with it at the time. The One X is still running stock, might install CM10 when they get that to RC.
I'd like an Android. My work issues iPhones, and I'm sick of Apple deciding what I can and can't do with MY phone. Unfortunately, a friend bought a galaxy Nexus, and returned it after being told 5 hours between recharges was standard. I'd be quite happy with a 7" tablet running Android that included a camera and AT&T data + voice. Pretty soon, you're going to get a docking cradle with your phone that hooks it to a keyboard, mouse and HD monitor. Your PC will be in your pocket between desks. ... If there was an open IceCream phone out there with a large screen and 48+ hrs in standby, I'd probably buy it anyway. Otherwise, I'll probably join the throngs and swap my 3GS for a 5 in October. If I'm feeling cheap, I might buy a pimped 4 in October from a bleeding edge adopter. I'll see.
DAFUQ? That's simply not true, maybe if running an incredible heavy 3d render or something but not in any way during normal use. The following is all anecdotal, but i have a friend with one and he does definitely not have that kind of recharge time. I charge my one X maybe every second day, and I intermittently play games and browse the web on it. The one x got some bad rep with regards to battery time due to some issues when it was new. But those were all patched.
I have a Samsung Epic 4G, and if I don't recharge that fucker religiously, it will die on me. If I'm using it to stream music or anything. Or hell, just PLAY music, I really try to keep it plugged in. And it locks up constantly. I fucking LOVE my ASUS Transformer TF300T though.
I have the HTC One x right now. It's stock since the company pays for the bill. Currently on 4.0.4. If I don't pick it up and use it (i.e. locked with the screen off) I've had it last almost 2 days without a recharge. Of course, it's rare that I'm not doing something with it. I usually end up charging it when I go to bed at night. Really like this phone. If only we weren't using AT&T as our provider, I'd be a really happy camper.
HTC Incredible running 2.2. I can keep a charge throughout the day if I'm not using it too heavily. I can use some widgits/apps and make phone calls and still have about 1/3 a charge by the time I go to bed at night. Looking to upgrade into a new phone, just not sure which Android I want yet.
I have a Droid 3. The battery is pretty decent (easily lasts a full day if I don't use it constantly), and I really like having the full slide-out qwerty if I need to type something particularly long.
I'm presently using a Galaxy Nexus and I love it. I use it to play music steadily and have found a nightly charge up is all it needs. I replaced the default text messenger as it was crap (imho) and dumped the music player for Double Twist. I really appreciate the large screen size but it is hard on the battery charge (usually uses 30-40% of the charge).
I have a razr. Love this phone. Never locks up and only gives me battery trouble if it is searching for a data signal a lot.
:suspicion: Mine has a standby of around 36-48 hours depending on what radio's I have turned on and a otherwise life of around 8 depending on what I'm doing. The non-LTE galaxies should last longer I believe. I admit I am jealous of my mom's new GSIII's battery life and the Razr Maxx's too.
This last generation and the upcoming ones have been a drastic improvement in battery life. Can't wait for my contract to be up so I can get rid of this stupid sliding keyboard phone. Was my first "smart" phone, after giving up a cell cause I never talk on the phone at all if I can help it. Figured I should have a keyboard cause I didn't know any better. SWYPE ftw. I HATE the bandwidth limitations and charging of other companies, but Sprints service areas sorta suck, I get a lot of crappy signals.
Swype is awesome. My only problems with my GSIII (literally just upgraded my SI like 3 days ago) is that it doesn't have the Samsung official swype keyboard and the voice commands are useless because it doesn't understand southerner even though I like to believe my accent isn't that thick. =/
