Nice although sparse on real details aside from explody stuff review: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08/31/the-first-days-of-planetside-2/ I don't have access to beta, but probably giving it a shot since its f2p.
So uhh who else is in the beta? I have been in since Tech Testing and if there was just a bit less lag it would be freaking amazing especially with friends. Engineer has been my favorite class and before anyone jumps on me NDA got lifted this afternoon... also think I have a spare key kicking around (one of he 20 or so I got xD)
I haven't decided on a faction yet. Could go Vanu or NC. Not fond of Terra, though. A little too Kurita for my tastes.
http://www.curse.com/betas/planetside-2-beta-key for anyone with a curse account and wanting a key they are giving them out for today at least.
Played about two games... still a little confused on base capture, I get the point on sitting at the capture points, but sometimes there are force fields I can't get through, sometimes nothing happens, a little confusing. There should be a better tutorial somewhere. I'm playing under Revontuli in case anyone wants to add me (can you add people?)
Magrider was a hoot in the early game, we used to call it the Magmower since you could run over infantry like a lawnmower! So fun, then they nerfed it so collisions with people would stop your momentum. =[
If you still have extras I would love to get in, I have been trying to get in for a while with no luck.
I started a thread on their forums when I got in but it quickly got buried by groups who had others who did.
I just got an email from IGN that is giving out Beta Keys, might want to check your email if your a member.
And like every proper free to play anyone can get in now by paying for it http://www.planetside2.com/alpha-squad id really want to throw money into the game but not quite sure yet.
Hmm.. I wonder if I'd be able to play on NA servers if I buy myself into an EU beta account. Search results seem somewhat ambiguous, I'd guess not though... Some articles report region ip locking and some threads talk of seamless switching, anyone who can shed some more light?
This is one of the things that keep me from buying, if the game goes the same route as DCUO european players are unable to play on NA servers and looking at that promotion site it seems this SOE is doing it so. The page i linked talks about having some deutsch company as a partner for european side of the game but then again there is no solid facts stated anywhere about there being ip blocking. So if there is someone who can say for sure id love to know about it.
I am able to create characters on both the NA and EU servers from NA, as of right now. I don't know if it will stay that way, or if logging in from an EU IP would be different.
