Well, if/when y'all get in, it'll be fun to have coordinated combined-arms assaults on the other factions. Or, at the very least, someone who won't automatically run you down in a friendly vehicle and will provide decent cover-fire in an assault.
All i can think of when i play it is.... I used to be good at this game. Now i just feel very confused. And they removed my favourite feature, the small animations when getting in and out of vehicles. That did so so much for the immersion in my mind. Apart from that it looks to be a very good game and i will perhaps drop in every now and then seeing as it is free, especially if we form a outfit in that game too.
I know that feel, bro. I popped in earlier last month and was at a total loss. Used to be that I could jump in and join an assault without even being in a squad. Now, I end up sitting around the warpgate trying to figure out where the fight is. When I do finally figure out where to go, I grab a vehicle, head out, get killed (because of no backup) and have two choices for spawn: the warpgate, or some completely remote facility that has no vehicle pad. Derp.
Yea, as a newcomer to the whole series, the main issue is that its just confusing to understand WTF is going on and what I'm supposed to be doing. Maybe thats why its not really grabbing me, I'm not finding any big conflicts, just some enemies here and there and then a big slog back to where I was... whats the point of squads anyway? Doesn't seem to help spawning at all.
Been there done that, don't think its any better now than before. I actually believe I read an article on Planetside 2 I think it was in game informer, basically it was the same game, but with better graphics. So not much has really changed.
I love the idea of planetside, and it looks amazing. I was unable to play the first one because my PC just would not run it at the time. So I have no real experience from PS1. Terrain, what did you not like so much about it?
If you hit M to open up the map you can click on the hotspots, the big explosion with the ! and rapid deploy there you can re-pick about once every half hour or something. That should get you closer to where the action is. If you want vehicles it seems you generally have to pick a spawn that has a symbol that isn't the little bunker building. It's fun in it's own way, though it wont take me away from BHA. It does have it's moments of being truly epic though, where you are running forward, and you see 30+ other people running around you, through tanks firing, and air battles over head, and then you come across pockets of people pinned down, peaking out to try and return fire... cool stuff. I also find that generally once at the action picking a transport ship to respawn from usually keeps me close to the action, and then I just hop in other people's vehicles from there. I'm Vanu on US west 01, but if we decide on a faction and server I'll reroll anywhere. I don't plan on playing a lot, but it'd be nice to play with people from here when I do.
Yea I got the hot spot map thing, I'm mostly confused at the actual bases. I get you have to cap some of the flags to capture the facility, but then there are force fields, areas that I can't figure out how to get to, let alone what the exact mechanic for capturing a flag is because sometimes you can sit next to one and nothing happens. I haven't actually witnessed 30 people fighting in one spot so far, maybe thats why I'm underwhelmed. I'm not sure I enjoy the weapon 'feel' either, which is a hard thing to describe why I don't enjoy them too much so far.
I've got an account as well now, seems like I freely can make US chars as well. It would probably be better for us Eu people if we could at least use east coast servers.
Ideally, we'd be squadded up with a galaxy or mobile HQ staged nearby to enable the rapid 'die-respawn-assault' gameplay that used to be a highlight of base-attacks. It used to be that you had to fight your way into a base and have a hacking tool to cap. Now.. I'm not sure.
I'm somewhat tempted to get beta access. A cursory look at the factions makes me think New Conglomerate would be the way to go, given the brief blurb on them. Very FRR feel.

It's really hard to feel like I'm doing anything effective running around solo. Some wonkyness here and there too, especially with the medic gun.
I didn't play it much after doing so about a week, the gun fight didn't have a good 'feel' to it for me, it felt like shooting airsoft guns. Also since I was running solo it didn't know what I was doing and if it was effective, I may play if you guys are on, I can create a new character on that server
Made a character to Themisto aswell, its fun but cant get much done alone. Id be interested to play if there are people for it.
how does one "get" beta access, are we talking about paying fo rit? that I can't do, I should have gotten it, because i was a planet side 1 vet, but no.
