I've been playing xcom and it's really solid - I made a unit based on Gleipnir and they died gloriously
I have to wait till after Midterms to get this game. I'm afraid if I buy it I won't be able to get back to studying.... ever.
You know, Dishonored woke me up from my false sense of Oh hey, I'll just duck and hide a bit, Theeeeeey won't see me at all, Oh no. So many times I feel ashamed of myself. Now DIshonored reminds me a bit of A mix between Arx Fatalis and Dark MEssiah Of MIght and magic, Maybe because it's the same studio that did both ^^ But it is definetly worth your time, I've spent 3 hours so far, reloading, redoing exploring, Oh and started 2 very different Kinds of games, Dear Lord Nonlethal is HARD. but the game is good, I hope to finish it in time for XCOM. OH GOLLIE GEE I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.!
From what I've heared, there are ~100 unique maps (selected at random depending on region of the world and mission type), each with multiple drop points. Alien enemy types/quantity/locations on the map are always random.
Played through the first level of Dishonored tonight, took my sweet time taking in the minor details. I got a kick out of that first safe code in the sewers. Classic.
I got XCOM and am doing a classic, iron-man game.... PURE EPIC... all i can say. Everything is permanent, everything you do is auto-saved so if you fuck up... you fuck up. I lost my entire squad of veterans this morning when i tried breaching a UFO and one of them blew up their own reactor (on purpose)... I cried a little but... gotta go on
I have not personally, but yeah, the scientist/engineer pop up the first time you spot one and tell you to watch your fire around it.
Yeah, I lost some men when one of my guys hit the panic button, fired off random shots and took out the reactor. Unfortunetly, he was not one of the ones to die.
So to all those who bought one or the other: what are everyone's thoughts after a few months? I'm probably in the market for a new game and trying to figure out what I want.
Personally I've put far more hours into Dishonored than Xcom. Xcom IS still fun, however, it's just not as engaging, to me.
I have both. Both are very good, very different. Dishonored is very thief like, but with super powers. Well crafter world and environment, movement and interactions are very fluid and smooth. Very, very good game I thought. It sort of gives you the choice between stealth and full out attack, but stealth, while at times slower and more demanding to do right, makes the game fairly easy. But combat also makes the game short. Either way its worth getting. XCOM is squad based, I liked it, I did feel it became a little repetitive by the end since my tactics for the second half of the game were pretty much same and the enemies didn't really impress me with the AI. That being said some people get a lot of re playability out of it, I played it once and called it a day. If I had to only pick one I'd go dishonored, but you can't really go wrong with either, depends on your game preferences
Funny thing about dishonored, my full-stealth, no super power, no killing playthrough was much faster than my opposite playthrough, on the highest difficulty. Those bastards hurt.
