New History Channel Scripted Show "Vikings"

So apparently the history channel is making a TV show about vikings in the style of the Tudors or Game of Thrones (or at least thats how the media has been phrasing it). Trailer from youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TrAGIcfKX8

Looks sort of interesting.

 

If this shows even half the violence and rapes that the Viking were known for, I'll be impressed.

 

Hopefully History channel doesn't use their standard fight choreographer, because their re-enacted fight scenes throughout these years make youtube LARP videos look like Braveheart.

omg... don't destroy your IQ's by watching history channel.

They should be called fairy-tale channel, or myths and legends anything but history. Revisionist is to kind, it would assume that knew enough history in the first place to be able to revise it to what they want. They are just ignorant journalists

 

While I was growing up the History channel was so good to me. Teaching me things about famous war figures, how machines and production lines were invented and worked, ships, planes, coca-cola, and even god damned popcorn. A few of their shows highlighting historical relics were even pretty fun and at the end would wrap up with what museum they were at currently and how I should totally go check that out.... Now we have ice road truckers and scripted tree logger redneck dramas.

I cannot tell you how much I hope this new show will be awesome, maybe even informative, so that the history channel can re-earn much of the respect I've lost for it.

 

I'm interested, though that trailer doesn't inspire much confidence in me...

 

I would love to see my ancestors in action and perhaps learn a thing or two at the same time. Whether or not it will deliver has yet to be seen however.

 

That is a tremendously unenlightening trailer. I'll probably watch the pilot, but given the dross the History Channel has been peddling the past few years, my hopes aren't particularly high.

 

Don't forget Pawn Stars, Cajun Pawn Stars, Pawnathon, American Restoration, American Pickers, American Restoration and Counting Cars!! History channel isn't just about Ice Road truckers and rednecks, you also get to watch people sell things!
