Baggs here! I'm always juggling two or three books at a time, I love talking books and I'm always on the lookout for new authors. So what are you reading now? Whats your all time favorite and what are looking forward to picking up?
Just read the last Wheel of Time Book by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson. I have to say I was really looing forward to getting this series done so I could put some closure on 20 years of hurry up and wait ( I honestly thought I was going to grow old and die while waiting). But honestly I'm kind of bummed its over, those books were great.
Right now I'm reading 1356 by Bernard Cornwell who is without a doubt my favorite author. He writes excellent historical fiction and even does a take on the arthurian legends and another series dealing with the Holy Grail.
I can't wait to read the next George R.R. Martin book, The Song of Ice and Fire has just been an awesome series all around and the HBO series rocks!!!
I dig Brad Thor and Vince Flynn for the whole spy anti terrorist agent story lines.

Just finished the latest Jim Butcher Dresden Files and getting ready to start the new Wheel of Time tonight.

Recently read the new Orson Scot Card prequel to the Ender series and it is excellent as well.

And just finished the latest Saxon Tales novel by Bernard Cornwell also.

I'm trying to slog my way through the battletech novels. I'm on Mercenary's Star at the moment. Shinsengumi: The Shogun's Last Samurai Corps and Michio Kaku's Parallel Worlds are in the wings.

I'm also working my way through the BT novels. Currently on Way of the Clans, by Robert Thurston. Other books I've recently read... the Star Marine Series by Ian Douglas (Real name William H. Keith, Jr., from BT fame). I also really love Bernard Cornwell. I have the entire Sharpe series on my bookshelf. :)

I'v read everything but the Sharpe series. I could never find the early ones in the book store. Now that I've got a Kindle I'm going to start mowing them down. I've only read the Stackpole BT books, I've tried others and just couldnt get into them for some reason. I'm digging the fact we've got some Cornwell fans here.

I am currently preparing to read Tiguana by G.G. Kay since I already read Sailing to Sarant and absolutely loved it. I tried reading the Mars trilogy by Robinson but alas I discovered that I didn't like the book...it is intriguing in its own way, but unfortunately not my cup of tea.

I'm also quite pleasantly surprised about the number of people on this forum who like Cornwell.
Just finished rereading Azincourt, which is my favorite.
He does tend to favor pretty strong (as in proficiency) protagonists in my opinion. Thats not a critique though. With capable main characters he's better capable to drive the narrative, I think.
At the moment I'm reading Gavin Smiths `The Veteran`, the story is pretty awesome, but the writing is a bit bumpy (at least in the german translation).

I've become a fan of Cornwell's works ever since I picked up "The Pale Horseman" at my local library.
Read the Saxon tales series up to "Sword Song" and various books from the Sharpe series.

Unfortunately, now that I'm back at college, it's textbooks, textbooks, and more textbooks.

I've heard Wheel of Time from just about everyone everywhere ever forever and am pretty excited to pick it up.

Just finished (re)reading Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. Great stuff even if you don't typically like fantasy. Am trying to get back into the Ender series with Xenocide. Read Ender's Game and Spaker for the Dead years ago.

As far as favorites: Definitely would recommend the works of Michael Chabon or Yann Martel.

If you like Iain M Banks' and Frank Herbert, I very highly recommend Alastair Reynolds. Dark future history, very in depth universe with good characters. Some of my friends have found it a bit slow at the start, but stick with it - some of the best anything that I've read.

If you don't fancy jumping straight in with a weighty tome, try his book of short stories to get a feel for the universe.

I've been doing the same thing. It is nice to run through them again. Especially since you can read them one after the other instead of waiting for the next one to come out. lol

Spent 10 days at my parents, getting bored to death.
So, happened to wander into local book store, and bought 5 first volumes of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories about 9th century Britain following the adventures of Uthred Ragnarson.
The problem is, I've been enjoying the books so much I red them all already and I seriously thought that about 2000 pages would last for a month! Guess I have to read them again.
And find the Warlord Chronicles, perhaps from the local library...

Now I understand what Svinfylking means!
