After double-clicking the MWO icon on my desktop, the appropriate logo flashes on my screen (taskbar calls it a "Bootstrap launcher") but then disappears. The regular launcher with the patch/play button does not come up at all. System restarts, virus scans, disk defragmentation and driver updates all do nothing to correct this. I would have sent an error ticket but for some reason I cannot access the http://mwomercs.com website at all! Attempting to visit the website via direct typing into the address bar or google search are met with a "problem loading page" message. Other people I know seem able to use both the game and website easily. Can anyone there tell me what is going on? Or failing that, get the attention of piranha games' technical support on my behalf?
Wait wait wait, I'm remembering something about running the client in Administrator mode. See if you can right-click the .exe and select "Run as Admin" and see if it makes a difference.
No luck- same problem as before. And that still doesn't explain the website not working for me. EDIT: Other computers on my home network cannot access the mwo site. However, I was able to see it via a proxy server. So... my house's IP address has been blocked? I don't recall doing anything that might have caused that. Nor have I received an e-mail about being banned.
Strange problem your having, Is you harddrive bollocks ? when you ran Dfrag did show any dodgy clusters ? wondering if some of your hardware is pear shaped.
From MWO forums for solving similar problems: i got this mail from the support i follow the steps he told me and at this moment the game is running and patch is complete Please open the following ports on your router: TCP 45461 TCP 45464 UDP 21000 to 30000 To start, open the Control Panel > Internet Options > Click on the "Delete..." button in the General Tab and tick all the options except for the first one (Preserve Favorites Website Data) and Click on Delete. On the Internet Option window, click the "Advanced" tab and then click on the "Reset..." button, tick the Delete Personal settings and then click on Reset. Once that is done, open your browser and make sure your version of Java is updated by downloading the installer here: http://www.java.com/en/ and proceed to its installation. Then clear your browser's cache and make sure your default browser is not set to private mode. Once done, please make sure to completely shut down your Firewall and Anti-virus and try again to patch the game. And other post: I just bought a new PC and installed MWO and I am getting the same error, I tried what Shadowblood said to do and reinstalled, but it didn't seem to help at all. *edit* I did a search on the error I was getting and found out all I needed to do was download DirectX 9 and install that. Even though I have a new PC with DX11, MWO needs DX9 installed to play.
From the German section of the MWO forums (with my limited german skills I was able to gather following) Try starting the MWO application with -nopatch command. They were discussing that the German ISP was having problems connecting to mwo site + game was not able to check for the patch. Dunno if this is the case where you live, most likely not as there would be a lot more complaints. Most likely the game won't work after the next patch if you are able to start it with the -nopatch.
If the same problem is occurring on multiple computers then is almost HAS to be a router or ISP issue.
I remember right after I got my computer and was invited to beta it kept saying something didn't download but it wasn't anything to do with the game it was microsoft .net framework so you may want to check that as well. as to the website no idea.
For the ISP thingy. Was it "tracert" or something like that, with what you got the route through which the IP/TCP traffic went? So by typing: tracert www.mwomercs.com you should be able to see where the block is for accessing the site.
Ninja: Not sure how technical you are or what your home network setup looks like. At the point that MWO went from Closed to Open beta they changed a massive amount of their network settings: New internet servers, new IP addresses, etc. My home network was down for almost 18 hours for the MWO stuff waiting for all of the internet routers/DNS Servers at my ISP to update all their settings...and for my local network config to pick that up. Another situation: back the second patch I was involved in, I found that my firewall/router/proxy server was caching the MWO Patches...what this meant is that I couldn't patch up...the client kept going to my local internet proxy cache and saying all the patches were already downloaded...then it'd try to connect to the game and be told "you're not patched" and blow up. The solution, obviously, was to force my proxy to bypass caching of the MWO website, thereby allowing everything to properly load in. You can also force your local client to bypass the proxy completely and you should get the same effect. Things you might consider, again depending how technical you are and what kind of local network setup you have: * DNS Cache Flush on any local DNS servers you have * Proxy Bypass for MWO Website/all of MWOMERCS. (or Bypass for the one machine you have MWO Running on). * Shutdown local Firewall/Virus Scanning Software on MWO System. If none of these work/apply to you then the traceroute suggestion above is a good starting point to figure out just what the hell is wrong. You could be facing an issue where your ISP's servers are having problems. --Illydth
I had this issue on my Vista operating system computer then I first got into the game. I tried virtually everything I could think of or find online. After a quick reformat and OS reinstall it worked great. I think this was a framework issue.
Got in contact with piranha's tech support and they unblocked me. Updating now, see you all in-game! Big thank you to whomever contacted them on my behalf!
