Apparently they look at DAOC as model for pvp (trifaction thingy). They even employed one of the creators. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/821/feature/6384/ThreeFaction-PVP-a-la-DAOC.html
Dont get excited about it. I bet you that at least 75% of all applicants will be rated excellent, that does not mean shit, that you will get picked. They will probably have some random algorithm script they turn on every 2 weeks and that sends out a few hundreds/thousands beta keys...
That's good. DAoC had the best pvp of any MMO I've ever played. That's actually pretty fucking smart of them. Maybe this game won't be a total failboat.
DAoC ruled. Although they need more than just the tri-faction to make it good. DAoC had so many layers to PvP, The Stealth Wars, Group vs Group, Zerg vs Zerg... No game has even come close to re-creating that.... They should just re-release DAoC with updated graphics, lol....
It wont be 3rd Person only but 1st Person will be total crap and useless since you wont see your hands/weapons/spells.
From watching that vid the gameplay looks almost exactly like Skyrim. First-person was what I preferred most times in Skyrim.
The posted video was a pod cast with Skyrim footage. From what I gathered, it appears to be first person only right now with the possibility of having 3rd person also. The first person view the interviewee saw was very first person, no hands with weapons.
The video was mostly just videos of Skyrim gameplay sprinkled around with official released videos in the beginning. Non of it was really from the pre-alpha I thnk, though I'm still watching it.
Lulz to the max, first person but no hands or weapons- an accomplishment even cheap/budget games have pulled off, IE Chivalry Medieval warfare. Quite why a huge big box developer can't implement this I have no clue. Its almost like they are writing a post mortem of why the game failed in explaination to their board.
PCGamer posted today about how beta invites will be out by the end of the month. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/04/the-elder-scrolls-online-beta-invites-to-be-sent-out-end-of-march/
Thought it was time for an update to our ESO thread. Anyone here make it into the Beta and able to tell us? Though I still wish it were a single player game, I must admit I still keep my eye on ESO out of interest in the Elder Scrolls fictional universe, which they've done a nice job at continuing to expand and elaborate through the Dev Updates on the main page. The game does look to be coming along nicely in the graphical and artistic fidelity department, and depending on how well it plays (hopefully similar to Skyrim) and its payment model, I might just see myself playing ESO in the future. It will likely be another five or more years before we see the next Elder Scrolls game from Bethesda anyway.
Hoping to get into the beta someday, it looks promising, even without the wonderful First Person perspective that makes earlier TES games so awesome.
