It was only a matter of time before modern furniture makers caught up with future designs a la "Minority Report." Asian news importer Rocket News yesterday published this article about a computer workstation that looks like a cross between a dentist's chair and multi-monitor gamer's wet dream, and costs as much as an American mid-size sedan. Quebec-based producer MWE Lab in the article boasts that their chair comes with a retracting five-monitor stand, Bose surround sound and an Italian leather recliner. Resembling an apparatus of power-hungry totalitarian regimes from dystopia, they even named the chair Emperor 1510 LX. It carries a price tag of $21,000 — about the price of five monitors, a computer, a dentist chair and wiring plus $10 grand. Here's a video of the chair's built-in test procedure, complete with sci-fi music.
I was looking at this thing last year when I was considering building a simpit/office, really cool deal but way too much
Based on what I've seen, it doesn't seem there's any cost saving in mass production. So if you're handy with electric motors/hydraulics or know a local metalworker, you probably could save a lot buying (probably superior) stuff and making it yourself.
Totally saw this on ArsTechnica. Do not want, but glad to see the future is here, and it's very expensive.
Only a matter of time until this...,
