That makes it 10x better in my book. Fan service is fine for watching alone with the curtains drawn, but I actually prefer to watch things WITH people. I've watched the first two seasons. There are some really interesting concepts at play I haven't seen before. I think the show does a good job of representing the complicated realities of being "immortal"... or rather unable to stay dead (note that the two are not the same). The show is pretty clever in playing with this concept. A central theme is "there are far worse fates than death". Definitely not a show for people that fantasize about suicide, though. Another big thing to keep in mind is that the lead character suffers from a very clear case of antisocial personality disorder. I like that the show never beats you over the head about it, but from my medical training, you can trust me; the main protagonist is seriously fucked in the head. This character flaw also makes him turn into a selfish prick sometimes and it helps to explain a lot of the shitty choices he makes before making the right one. Don't be surprised if you have moments where you actually dislike the protagonist. I think it is intentional. Without giving spoilers, if your ever find yourself saying "fuck this guy", try to stick it out to the end. Thankfully, his best friend (who is far more heroic) is much more well adjusted and likable throughout the whole series. Unlike most anime, I found the conclusion of season 2 satisfactory (Season 1 has a shitty cliffhanger ending, but Season 2 wraps things up well enough). The show even does a good job of giving one of the "bad guys" some really good motivation for being a complete dick. You almost sympathize with the fucker after his backstory reveal. With so much trash out there, it has definitely been one of the better surprises out there for me. It's not Cowboy Bebop, but it's a very serviceable mature anime by my account.

I just thought of something. That is dangerous, me thinking. But i think 8th ms team, stardust memory and thunderbolt are the only gundam series where they are proper military (as in the pilots are in miltary from the start). I can't think of any others. Well maybe war in the pocket as well but to me that is grey area. I think she (the gundam test pilot)is a lieutenant.

but is it an insult to Japanese culture, or Chinese culture, or is it an insult to an insult from the Japanese to the Chinese... okay I think I might be over thinking this a bit... but yeah... Dragonball is supposed to be based off Journey to the West (loosely) which is a Chinese tale... and Japanese rewriting Chinese lore into a story about a goofy kid with a tail and his hijinks as he works to play with some balls could easily be deemed insulting XD
Forgot we did that. I kinda feel like they need to age the pilots since most of the fanbase is older now (even in a new series have older pilots from the start). They probably won't though. Though 00 they were older. I think even setsuna was 20 or so. Edit: huh. He was 16 in season 1 (seemed older though) and 21 in season 2.
