Totally agree. The boyhood power fantasy arch no longer holds any interest with me. I believe this is exactly why the few gundam shows i like all have older main characters.
I would like one in which it follows a guy in his mid thirties and him having to deal with the stupid young kids and silly power fantasies.
Sounds like amuro in zeta. But should have been the whole series. Fuck kamille (for those who haven't seen zeta he's the main pilot.) Ugh. Where most are whiney teenage angst for only part of the series he is that way for the whole thing.
There's a reason why I used the name 'Sparhawk' from David Eddings book, he's not this up and coming young prodigy chosen to save the world by some fluke of circumstance, he's a dyed in the wool veteran of a lifetime of experience forced through circumstance to take on supernatural enemies in order to save his queen and country. You pretty much get that 'I'm too old for this' vibe throughout much of the book, but because it's part of who he is, he simply pushes forward until the end. I like the stories where the main character has some season to him and not some lucky prick or a 'chosen one' though I did kinda like the twist with Doctor Strange. Pretty much the same for the Fifth Element, amazing movie. Honestly I think people like the boy wonder movies not because the hero is young or anything of that nature, but because it's the lottery effect, if you're lucky something might come along and take you away from the humdrum of a normal life and whisk you away into a fantasy where you're the hero and everything ends up right in the end. Oh, and you don't have to really work hard for it, either, because the stories only graze over the training process, if there is any, so it seems like the hero skips over the parts where being the hero sucks, because they only have so much film time and people really wouldn't watch long enough to get a real idea of just how much effort goes into these things
Got sick of waiting for Season 2 of OPM, so I watched Mob Psycho 100. Now I gotta figure out what the heck to watch while I'm sick of waiting for Season 2 of Mob Psycho.

Not sure I have actually seen the Japanese lacrosse SDF. I have seen a japenese version but was never sure if it was a cut down version since it seemed essentially the same as the robotech episodes but maybe a few extra episodes. (First season of robotech. Not the masters and after)
If I had to guess you probably were watching the movie. It's presented as an in-universe documentary of the events of the anime so it more or less follows the same plot.
Seen the tv series and movie Yeah the lines in macross make much more sense. Also Minnie doesn't seem quite as annoying. And I think she comes across more as she is meant to in macross. A little selfish and usually gets her way.
damn, that CGI may not be completely seamless, but it's getting frighteningly close in certain aspects.
So I don't know if anybody here plays visual novels, but the first five Higurashi games are in this week's Humble Bundle. If you're not familiar with the series you should definitely pick it up and play them and not Google anything first.
