Any interest in GuildWars 2?

The wife and I will be buying the pre-purchase for GuildWars 2 on the 10th. Anyone else going to play this during the pre-purchase betas? If so, maybe we can get a guild going early.

I actually had a HELL of a lot of interest in it, and figured it would be my next game. Then MWO was announced and it dropped off the radar. When does it actually release? I can't imagine myself having much time for anything else once MWO open beta kicks off, but if GW2 comes out soon, I may have to pick it up to pass the time. No recurring fee certainly is a draw there.

this was likely to be the game of the year for me if they did well with it.

but then i found MWO and it all changed

Still no release date announced, which is less than encouraging. I've been waiting something like 7 years, a few more months won't kill me. I expect GW2 and MW:O to be the two games I play the most in the second half of 2012.

I played the original and all of it's expansions with great enthusiasm. I'd probably enjoy the second a great deal, but I tend to be the kind of person that concentrates the vast majority of my gaming time into one outlet at a time for a prolonged time. That being said, I find myself with pretty much the same mindset as Dihm. I was looking forward to it for awhile, but now with me having my eyes on MWO I really doubt that I'll pick it up for fear of not being able to get my initial investment out of it in entertainment.

The other worry for me was: I never bothered finishing any of the 3 campaigns for Guild Wars, cause the mechanics got irritating and I also had no interest in the PvP system they had.

The PvP got old really quickly; I lost interest in it after roughly a month.

I pre-purchased this afternoon. I'll post more letting people know when I'll be available during beta weekends, and maybe we can get a group together.

*nods* Count on it. I'm looking forward to it. Not as much as I am MW:O, but quite a bit, nonetheless.

I think I still get to come to all those tests without pre-purchasing so I could be down for it when I have time.

I am interested in this but will be waiting before deciding on purchasing. What with all the games coming out this year I have to be mindful about what I pick and choose so I don't end up with having games sitting on my shelves unopened while things like MW:O/MWT consume all my time.

Beta this weekend...looking forward to it. Hopefully its as polished as I expect, considering I pre-purchased, lol.

My interest in GW2 just hit rock bottom when I got an email from them saying, "Pre-purchase to get 3 day head start and guaranteed beta access plus exclusive hero band!".

Sorry, but I'm not paying to beta test a game.

Client downloaded and ready here. Really interested to see what they have in store for the game.

I've bought several games just to get beta access before. Sometimes it works out for me, sometimes not. I have hope this time will.

I just spent the better part of 3 days playing. I won't pretend to speak for anyone else, but I found it to be the most fun I've had in an MMO yet. The world design is beyond reproach, especially if you're a fan of exploration and finding little nooks-and-crannies that aren't represented on the map. Combat was fluid and fast paced compared to other MMOs, and I especially enjoyed the fact that I would swing a weapon and not wait 1.5 seconds to swing it again. The event system worked well, and made it feel much different than the norm. We didn't run into a single fed-ex quest the entire weekend.

I only had two problems this weekend. The Overflow system does not send party members into the same overflow queue, so in order to stay grouped with your party, you needed to go into a main city and jump through the portal, while hitting the queue button. Sometimes you'd need to do this multiple times. I didn't do any of my Personal Story quests this weekend, but to save them for actual release, and to cut down on the number of occasions the SO and I needed to re-group. This is a known issue, and will supposedly be fixed before release. Secondly, the servers went down hard Sat. afternoon for about two hours. When they came back up, I didn't have a hiccup one the rest of the time. I've played in my share of beta weekends for various games, and the up-time on the servers truly impressed me compared to other games.

I've read reports of other testers having horrible lag, or not being able to log in almost the entire weekend. If true, I feel for them, but I only know what our experience was like. I can't wait for release.

Now, here's hoping Shadowrun Returns blows me away too. :D

So, how was the "questing" outside the event system? For some reason I'm wanting to say they don't have "quests" like, say, EQ or WoW would, but instead rely more on the events. I hate FedEx and Kill quests, they bore me to tears. That is NOT "questing". It becomes more of a game of Where's Waldo, trying to find the thing with the ! or the thing with the ?.
