    Hello all.

So, I'm looking for a better, and more future-proof solution to streaming content to my TV. Currently it's an Xbox 360, which for some reason has dropped support for Plex seemingly entirely(It no longer works at all). So, I've been looking at Chromecast as a possible replacement. Wondering if anyone has one and how it works... exactly. I know I can stream from my phone, but I'd rather just use my PC or Mac. PC isn't a laptop, but I'm more wondering if it just needs to be wireless capable or not?

I have Chromecast and love it. Chromecast actually connects to your wifi so you can use a PC or Mac(?) with a Chrome browser, you just have to download a free add-on to the browser to cast to the TV.

I'm not entirely sure about Mac because I don't have one. On PC you do have to use the Chrome browser for sure and both the PC and Chromecast have to be linked to the same wifi

Okay perfect! I think my Mac may be out of luck, 'cause the OS is so old that Chrome stopped updating. But that's all I really needed to know. My PC is on a Wi-Fi connection 'cause of where the Router is placed.

Just get a new 4k smart TV.

All that stuff already built in and the high end ones are almost a computer that you can use to browse the internet or stream content.

With that being said I'm looking at the Amazon fire TV because I have prime.

Yeah... I don't feel particularly comfortable with a device in my home that can watch and listen to everything I'm doing. Especially when said device has an internet connection. I'll stick with my dumb TV and find a simpler/cheaper solution.

Also, 4k TV is what, $900? Vs a $35 Chromecast lol

You do have to have an open HDMI connection for the Chromecast to plug into, forgot about that part

    But that 4k goodness..

The LG OLED TVs are insanely good. But also cost a lot.

Oh yeah, I've got plenty of ports. The only connection to the TV right now is the old Xbox 360.
