Good news and bad news.

AC is still out, but Thursday should be down about 10 degrees from last week. We have found a few tricks to help keep it a bit cooler, but not that much cooler. I plan to try to play on Thursday and if we have to call it early, so be it.

We moved my computer from the hottest room in the house to the coolest. It should help immensely. Looking forward to killing off things on Thursday.

 

Bad news guys. I have been in a lot of pain all day, mostly back. I am not going to make it tonight.

 

This one isn't my fault, I promise. Christi has been really sick the last 24 hours. She is currently sleeping and I don't want to wake her.

Very sorry for the short notice, but I am going to have to cancel tonight for my wife.

 

Very long post incoming, sorry in advance.

First, as you know, I have been having terrible health problems lately. The vast majority of these are made worse by the heat. Today, for example, I have a terrible headache due to neck strain and definitely helpful that I haven't slept well for several days. These issues will not be improving anytime soon.

Second, stress has gone crazy around here. Partially, again, due to the heat. I have not been able to complete any work for 7 weeks now. I cannot work in the middle of the night because Christi needs to sleep, and I cannot work during the day because it is just too hot.

Third, this campaign has been really struggling. Haki mentioned this a while back, but the party has really not ever come together as a cohesive unit. Some characters are actually distracting from the plot while others seem to not want to be involved. Christi and I were talking about this briefly and she mentioned the frustration of too many interruptions and talking over each other. These all may be due to our inability to play more than about once a month, but it is counter productive in any case.

The heat situation will likely die down by the end of September (I have Comic Con in there as well). As you may recall, I have been using this group as a test bed for thoughts for my writing. I think what we need to do is drop this campaign and pick up again at a later date with a new campaign. We should discuss this and plan characters as a cohesive unit rather than a bunch of loners clumped in a pile.

Short Version: Demon not play. Demon sick too much. Demon need new campaign but not for long time.

 

Well, that's disappointing but understandable. As you say, the campaign has been rather hit or miss for the most part, and if your home is that bad a shape right now, playing consistently isn't in the cards.

Unless I'm mistaken, only 2 or 3 of the party members actually have any reason to be involved in this whole thing anyway. The rest are just kind of along for the ride.

 

The motivations are varying at best. Technically, all of them have a reason for being in the group, but some are kinda weak reasons.

 

so, no game tonight, then?

My office is back where it belongs. With the heat, I had to abandon it for a few months and try to work out of the bedroom.

That said, I am 3 months behind on work, but at least I CAN work. I am not fading anywhere, but my schedule is erratic at best. Next week I have Salt Lake Comic Con, which I am the Tabletop Gaming Coordinator for. I am also a Venture Lieutenant for Pathfinder Society in Utah, because we needed organization

Health comes and goes, it has left it so I just can't depend on my schedule. But I am alive and kicking!
