    The purpose of this thread is to discuss game mechanics that are currently being used as well as mechanics we would like to see included.

    A few rules to keep in mind
    • All game mechanics have to be reasonably easy to execute by admin. Overly complicated rules help no one. Please keep this in mind when discussing here.
    • Try to keep on the current topic until it is resolved. You may have a great idea and feel free to mention it, but try to table discussion for it until after the current topic has been finished.

    First topic: Hacking

    This will be a thing in the new campaign. I see it being a major part of both Raid and Recon missions, but could also be a part of larger operations such as a siege on a major facility. I have a very simple solution for this: an old game called Hangman.

    You may guess any number of letters, but the first you guess wrong, you cannot guess anymore until the following turn of combat. Theoretically, this means you could hack the password to a door console in the first Turn you reach it (must be in an adjacent hex), but if you particularly bad at Hangman, it could take 4 turns... maybe more.

    I expect passwords to be somewhere between 6-10 characters long and I will try to keep a "battletech" theme with them.

    a potential issue I see cropping up is lack of knowledge of the Btech franchise. make sure not to have the words/references be particularly arcane or require detailed knowledge of novels or background, please.

    You guys are reading way too much into this. Just give me a vowel. :lol:

    edit: hint questions are completely not necessary and will only add extra work for me. the hint might be too easy or too obtuse. how am i to decide? there is too much room for error. a simple word where one just has to guess letters is straightfoward and fair for everyone.

    Did someone need a vowel?

    My only issue might be with how long it would take to hack something. I mean one a turn sounds cool and all but a particularly difficult 10 letter password could take you 6-7 maybe 8 turns. Even in Fallout you can brute force things if things got squirrelly.
