Well, to be fair, I haven't tried playing since the patch. I wouldn't mind playing a few games just to see what is what.

    Yes, quite positively:

So if this is in fact just a bad beta experiment, there may still be hope.

Great post, Solis. Hope they run with your idea. I would totally play that.

I dislike that Odin guy on their forums though. What an insufferable white knight douche:
As if "adjusting prices" will fix the underlying shitfest that is linear grind progression.

I don't mind a little white knighting, especially since this patch has left a lot of us (including myself) feeling salty. I just don't get his mindset that level grind is a good and necessary feature... especially in what is essentially a PvP 3rd-person arena shooter.

But I've seen it before... though that was from a completely brain-damaged twat many years ago. Though he got himself permabanned... at least three times. With a little help. But I digress...

Going to play the Devil's Advocate here in regards to EVE. A lot of EVE's major content changes made HUGE changes to the landscape of the game. I was around when they introduced early Capitals(and later Supercaps) and can attest how the ship changes/balancing/introduction of Tech 2/and new ship classes changed both the PvE/PvP aspects of the game.

One good example not PvP related was the introduction of Scan sites in Null-sec/Low-sec. These "missions" were basically open world dungeons that had to be approached carefully as they were very dangerous for those unprepared, and sometimes even those who were prepared (Theres at least one killmail of me dieing to a Pithi ship floating around). On the PvP side of things major changes in PvP could have a massive ripple effect down the line as ultimately almost 70% of ships lost in EVE (which is the primary diver of the player market) are lost in Null-Sec battles. Even the small change of introducing a Tier 3 Battlecruiser completely changed how players approached Fleet combat, suddenly a smallish fleet of 50 or so Battlecruisers could supplement a much larger group of Armor HAC's/Battleships in combat whilst maintaining flexibility that allowed them to make their presence felt.

The most fun/enjoyment/white knuckled moments I have ever had in a game were in EVE online. Most of it was related to PvP which I still say is where the game starts to shine and even more so in the Meta-game out in null-sec.

I played for 8-9 years, so yes, I'm very familiar with the game as well... And yes, you could do all those things, but how much of all that could be counted as "fun" and how much of it became boring grind after doing it a few times. My argument is that it was more of the latter.

I'm not saying they didn't add enough content. I'm saying a large chunk of time spent in Eve was dull and boring grind or sitting on your ass waiting for something to happen. Far too much time was spent organizing murderball fleets and not enough time having fun. Ship spinning in stations was my life. I'm glad Star Citizen is aiming for smaller scale battles.

Certainly, Eve had its moments, but "white knuckled" is not how I would describe Eve as a whole. I know the analogy gets thrown around a lot, but it still holds up for me; Eve was a second job I didn't get paid for. I don't miss it one bit.

By comparison. keeping Megamek going is definitely work too, but I have much more fun with it than I ever did with Eve.

On a side note: "playing devils advocate" is a personal peeve of mine. I hear people say it far too often as a thinly veiled excuse to be an argumentative pain in my ass without actually offering any real solutions to problems. Not saying you are doing that here, of course, but the more you know... :)

But I am getting way off topic...

Well, just got my invite at the very least.

Game has potential. I had a blast with my sniper gun ship :)

I'm just wondering if they still have that terrible tier system now.

They seem to still have a tier system like Warthunder or World of Warships. I haven't played much on it though.

I was playing some this past weekend. It's not tooo bad. I've only got a Recruit fleet operating ATM. The upgrades do actually feel like they're adding something though.,
