Since we didn't have a post on this game yet its time to get one started. Broke the Tarkov posts out of the Division thread to keep it from becoming too confusing. Here is a bit of a rundown about the game by JackFrags, with his background in playing this style of game it was interesting to see what his pros and cons were with it.
where the hell have i been that i haven't heard of this yet?! finally might actually get the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. style MMO i've been searching for all these years...
might as well be. wife has a sinus infection, the 1yr old has pinkeye, and they both have colds to top it off. it's a dangerous game of taking care of everybody while avoiding contact at all costs... free time has been lacking...
That looks like what the division was originally marketed as. Trailer from years ago for reference Survival shooter... It's like they took all the survival aspects out...also pay attention to the map.. You will notice areas they took out for dlc later
For some reason, the more I look at this the more it reminds me of The Secret World. Might just be some similarity of the visual style and UI.
They also got the A2 bird cage flash hider completely wrong for that escape from tarkov game. The A2 bird cage flash hider is actually extremely good at what it does and you shouldn't be seeing any flash at all. heres a good video for reference. skip to 2:30 to start the comparisons between different flash hiders. I also have nothing but hate for that knights armament battle rail that have on the m4 in the game as well. I freaking hate those things with a passion, such complete garbage and so freaking heavy. which I could have ripped my on in the marine corps in Iraq. 11.8lb fucking rifle... what a joke.
If your going to mimic reality then what is in the game should act like it does in real life. now if this was scifi I wouldn't give a crap the customization is crazy from looks of it, the divisions weapon customization looks silly compared to it. though I didn't see a lot of different weapons. only a 870, ak47, m4 carbine, and what looked like a M9 Beretta. though with the customization in this game if you get a m4 carbine you could make any ar15 variant you want.
My rifle, A M16A4.. with a acog, some stupid verticle grip with a bipod built into it, a full mag, sling, and then had to have the carry handle sight mounted on the stupid rail as well because my unit was retarded. you can get the civilian version from FNH currently.. they are rather expensive for around 1500 for a AR. this is just the rifle though, don't think you get the carry handle. http://www.fnamerica.com/products/carbines/fn-15-series/military-collectors-series/ this was in the marine corps. I wanted my M16A2 I had the first time. also hate acogs, I think they are crap for the money. could not stand the constant magnification. and that stupid knights armament rail
Wait, they almost doubled the weight of your battle rifle by strapping attachments to it? Shit, I don't think the M14 or M1 Garand weighed over 11lb...
Broke this thread off separate from the Division's and updated the first post with JackFrag's video which was a better review. Here is the released pre-alpha game play video that the other sites have been commenting over and re-cutting.
