Dunno who on here likes/hates/disapproves/follows/knowsabout NASCAR, but next week is the Daytona 500 aka the official start of the NASCAR season... ...so does anyone want to join a NASCAR fantasy league? Free to play and sign up, we can create a league for just us guys or some friends. Just hopin'.

Yeah it gets pretty intense. I signed up last year and I don't get into NASCAR nearly as much as these guys do but it's a fun time.
I was into it for a while too...I'm not looking for something intense, just a fun thing to do once the weekend rolls around. Take a look at the numbers, muddle around for a bit, then pick your five and enjoy the show. Not all this heavy-duty detailed work in research and debates that some groups do, like there's money on the line (which...there could be of course...)
Yeah we've got about 25 people throwing in 10 bucks each. One driver each week, driver's points for the race get added to your total, highest total points wins it all. I also built a trophy at the end of last year consisting of a piston welded to crossed connecting rods welded on top of a still-spinnable water pump (all left-over junk parts of course).
I also ran a free SEC football pickem league last year, no player points just pick the winner kind of deal with a game of the week for extra points and might do that again this year.
I just don't get HOW it works. It doesn't make sense in my brain thing. Do you draft a pit crew and driver or something?
There's a bunch of ways to do it, ours is pretty simple. You pick one driver for each race. You can only pick a driver once per season. However many points that driver earns during the race is added to your total. Person with the highest total at the end of the season is the champ. Example (all numbers are examples also): For the Daytona 500, Player 1 picks Greg Biffle, who finishes 4th and gets 27 points. That player can no longer pick Greg Biffle the rest of the year. Player 1 gets 27 points for the week. The next week, Player 1 picks Tony Stewart who wrecks and finishes 36th with 9 points. Player 1 now has a total of 36 points after 2 weeks and can no longer pick Greg Biffle or Tony Stewart. Other leagues are more complicated (multiple drivers, etc etc) but with our setup all you have to do is send in a driver pick each week and keep track of who you've got left. By the end of the season some people are struggling to get 5 or 6 points a race cause they used up all the good drivers early and are left with rookies and poor teams.
So basically its like betting on horse racing, not terribly exciting, when i heard fantasy league i thought that my dreams of live action Blood Bowl would finally come true.
