so, thanks to new job, after tomorrow (assuming I can make it at all tomorrow) I will no longer be able to make this session, as I will be heading to work less than half an hour after our start time. Wednesday remains free, but Tuesdays are a bust.
We are not gaming today. I have to be a dad instead. Sorry to hear that Damion, but gotta pay bills and stuffs.
In the interest of Thanksgiving, and the fact that I also have 3 family birthdays in the next 2 weeks, I am gonna pass on gaming next week. Spend the time with them family types.
Hey guys, I was really hoping to Firefly tonight, but I have been sick all day. After resting the last four hours, I still feel like I have been hit by a semi. Sorry peeps 8( Gotta cancel.
I will be late tonight, possibly not there at all. I'm going to my goddaughter's birthday and I'm not sure when I'll be back.
Have fun at the party! Looks like we skip tonight. Christi is currently stranded downtown (car problems). Be safe, have fun, we will explore the verse later.
Just bringing up discussion. It has been proposed that we just drop this. Reasons this was suggested: First, we only have 4 players (Damion was 5, but he works Tuesdays now). This makes playing very difficult at best. Second, there have been some frustrations with the system. The 2d system with variable targets puts a lot in the hands of luck rather than skill. Third, we have had more than a rough start due to holidays, obligations, etc. Thoughts?
I've been thinking about this all weekend. I know that I've had to cancel quite a few times the last several weeks. However, I have been having lots of fun and I look forward to playing each week. Demon, the reasons you brought up are all good reasons to drop the campaign. I can fully understand if people want to stop the campaign, but personally, I don't want to stop playing. It doesn't matter to me what the campaign or rules system are.
The big two concerns for me are: 1. Only having 4 players. It is really rough to play with less than that, no matter the game, so I usually keep it as a minimum threshold. 2. The system. I like the Firefly universe, it is quite a lot of fun, but I am concerned that the 2d system is a bit too random. I have a few thoughts on that end that might help, but it is problematic. We had the same issue with MechWarrior RPG also, the Time of War system is a little clunky.
Just as an injection here. I've found that most rpg's can be converted to another system while keeping the basics of the world. I really like using the 2nd Ed Shadowrun system myself, and have successfully adapted it for D&D and Mechwarrior TT. So if your having and issue with how clunky the rules are, adapt them and keep the 'Verse.
wish I could still play, I was having a good time, I like how the system works, though the dice could be frustrating at times, I think the point was to allow for situations where things got out of control during one episode, so you had to go and rescue/escape in the next, kinda like we did with our host with the most XD
Okay, gonna nix this (at least temporarily) until the holidays and put some thought on it. The biggest problem for me is the 4 players. If we can get more than that I think we can work out a solution.
Putting out food for thought. I can run a Shadowrun 5e game in this setting, but again I need more players. Any thoughts on recruiting personnel?
I'm up for doing a Shadowrun campaign. I'm somewhat familiar with the setting if we're changing campaigns. If we're still doing Firefly, I'd need to learn the rules. Like I said before, it doesn't really matter to me what we play, so long as we're playing something.
