Thread for those of us who have been particularly unlucky with or brutal to our Graphics Cards.

Blown caps, shorts, over-cooked processors, dead fans. They fought bravely or were hamstrung by insidious defects attacking from behind.

They battled boldly and fell fighting. Honor them with a Word here and send them to the halls of RMA or give them a true send off in cleansing fire.

EVGA 780GTX SC. 2.5 years old.

Fell to Dragon's Dogma on max settings in the midst of a fight with a Cyclops. Scent of burning silicon and no power to the rest of the case.

Negotiating with EVGA's RMA team now to see if I can upgrade by paying the difference in collateral.

Edit: Was unsuccessful finagling a better card out of them. Standard RMA with possibly a week-long total time without a card. I can feel withdrawal creeping up on me. I guess they'll send what they have in stock.

EVGA 8800 GTX. Paid $650 for it in June 2007, and at the time was my biggest purchase until I bought my first car.

    Died June 2015.

Had been letting my girlfriend use the old desktop to play Sims 3 and Star Wars Old Republic; pressed the power button one day and she went pop, fizzle, and smoke (the GPU, not my girlfriend). Likely died because I had an aftermarket cooler on it and had neglected to dust it for a long time. Probably shorted somewhere. Now she's using one of the radeon 7950s from my old bitcoin mining PC. :)

XFX R9 290 stock cooler from AMD, bought it in 2014 along with a Gigabyte Custom OC R9 290 and used them both in CF and OCed them both. I think the Stock card didnt like it cause it started having artefacts and completely burned out.

Got lucky tough as the stock cards where out of stock so they payed me back the full price I payed of 350€. When the card died it was worth only ~250€.
Didnt buy another 290, have been using only one since. Its been fairly enough and frankly I dont think I will go CF or SLI again. Even without it dying it was a hassle.

XFX RX480, 5 months old. I think my mobo blew up and fried it along with 1 RAM stick. Good news is that I already got a new RMA'd RAM stick and XFX emailed me yesterday that they're sending me a replacement.
