Long time no talk people's, been busy w a LOT of projects and one of them had been as a beta reader for a good friend writing a book.

I normally would not do this, but she needs some help. The book is nearly done and while the content editing is nearly done, because of modern publishing house scenarios has to pay for all the final editing herself, which is extremely expensive. Damn places don't do their own in house editing anymore and reject works that are not already final edited.

If you guys would be willing, could you share her go fund me campaign on your social media apparatus of choice, spread the word, and give her books Facebook page a like? Trying to help get the word out as best I can.

You can find her website at

    Agrimtrilogy.com

On Facebook it can be found searching for "Grim Ambition"

And her go find me at

    https://www.gofundme.com/grimambition

(The book is absolutely amazing by the way and worthy of a display at a local book store. Unfortunately funding to get it final edited is gonna create a nasty roadblock...)

    Thanks, guys

Is there a single preview chapter available to read? I generally like to see the quality of what I"m supporting first, if possible.

Here is a comment from a famous anonymous writer, I'm putting it in spoiler wrapping as no one came asking for advice:

That is a reasonable fee for the editor, and it is true that publishing houses have severely curtailed editorial staff in recent decades. However, very few legitimate publishers accept unagented manuscripts in any event, and if an agent thinks she can sell a manuscript, she will work with the author to get it into shape—assuming it isn’t a hot mess to begin with.

Paying an editor ahead of time is a poor investment, as unless either the manuscript is really spectacular in some marketable way, its chances of ultimately selling are poor. Even then, she is unlikely to receive more than a few thousand dollars on a first novel.

The “GoFundMe” site she says, “ This book means the world to me, and it is my life, and hopefully, career if I can just get this published.” which I’m sorry to say tells me she doesn’t understand the business or what she’s getting into.

I’d feel better if she sounded more realistic—if she was raising the money to self-pub, or didn’t have it in her head that she was going to sell one manuscript and have a new career. But hey, that’s the fantasy we all go through at some point.

So here is my bottom line. If you want to help someone chase her dreams, the worst that will happen is that you give her $100 and it comes to nought, or she ends up self-publishing and becoming lost in a sea of mediocrity, or maybe, just maybe starting to build an audience and rise to prominence, which does happen.

The unwanted advice from this established author resembles heavily what I've spoken with other established writers on similar subjects.

It's really hard to get published.

I personally think that it's cool to help someone chase a dream and "what he said" - who knows, it might eventually grow into a bigger thing. The odds might be against it but it's not always about odds anyway. Sometimes it's just about someone with passion doing great stuff and receiving a helping hand.
