So when is the next opportunity to get in on some MegaMek action? The current campaign looks pretty entertaining.
If you are already familiar with how to use Megamek, technically, we could get you in right now. We will skip the details of making character and I will just give you something balanced you can use for the remainder of the campaign. The current campaign (Skjaldborg pre-Clan Invasion) is wrapping up with a final battle around two different faction's dropships. Story can be found here: (most recent post) http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index.php?threads/operation-terminus.8669/page-5#post-257042 New player info can be found here: http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index.php?threads/campaign-info-signup.1150/ =========================== After that, we are moving onto the officially titled "33XX: The Corporate Century" (aka Prometheus) campaign which is basically a "what if" campaign set in the far future where the political environment is something akin to Battletech + Armored Core + Blade Runner + Ghost In The Shell. The idea is to breathe a little cyberpunk dystopia into the Battletech recipe and do away with some of the more annoying limitations of the established cannon. I'd love to join the current campaign! I'm familiar enough with MegaMek to muddle through with a little assistance (i've played against the bots a bit). What night does everyone usually play on? Is there a particular faction that could use another player or is the choice mine?
Because everyone involved has to be on at the same time, dates vary depending on people's schedule. Best place to put you in will probably be one of the Skjaldborg teams. The "Doves" are the safe route as their mission will be (mostly) PvE. The "Hawks" will be PvP, but since you don't have anything to lose it is certainly an option for you. As long as you can pull your weight, I'm sure either team will be happy to have you.
Great, I'm leaning doves as that will give more of an opportunity to learn, though hawks sounds like a lot of fun. I'll post in the respective lance thread shortly. As for mechs, I like fast mediums, but I'm easy.
I recommend the Assassin, I think we still have my old one lying around in the hangar. A phoenix hawk or a griffin would also work well.
