    Although, with the help of Damion's sick mind (and my own, for that matter), perhaps there's a Kubrow LHC involved. .... Noooooooo! (Although at near c, I don't think they feel a thing.) >.<;

given the principles of relativity, the closer they get to C the more time expands, so really, while it all happens so fast we can't even blink, for the puppies it'd literally take an eternity for every millimeter of the impact, so they'd actually feel everything for an eternity as long as they're travelling slightly less than the time it takes the neurons to carry information to their brain XD

Time slows down as you go faster in order to preserve the sensation that light keeps leaving from you at speed of light. For a passenger everything is at all the time happening at same speed.

Essentially, if you want to live really long you might want to build a huge spherical particle accelerator that can house a shuttle and while you're looping in it near c you will not experience time slowing down but you will notice that time appears to be accelerated outside.

Here's a calculator if you want to fool around.
    http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=time dilation calculator

60 seconds at 299,700,000 m/s takes 40.27 minutes for outside observer or vise versa, 40.27 minutes for outside observer feels like 60 seconds for someone going at that speed. So at 299,700,000 m/s the ratio is roughly 40.27 : 1. The fun thing is that all of your molecular movement etc. will have slowed down so you truly age at the rate which you feel the time is passing at.

Clocks don't measure time. They measure distance traveled! This is the beauty of relativism, two people start from same point, take different routes and meet at the same spot - however because they took different paths they meet at different times, having traveled different times. They left exactly same time 10 years earlier and they are now exactly at the same time at same point but one has aged 9.999 years (in relation to the clock in the location) while the other one has aged 1 day.

This is so beyond what our species has needed to understand as a macroscopic land dwelling creatures that our brains do not have a builtin intuitive model for understanding it.

But science gives us tools to understand it, imagine it and comprehend it.

yes, but the question wasn't how does time dilation work, but how would time dilation effect two beings impacting together near C, going from -holy shit fast- to molecular obliteration, would you ever even know you were dead? XD you quite literally would never be able to see it coming, by the time the impact generated outgoing light waves you may have already been converted into mass energy and whatever other phenomena occur in that event collision XD

note: if two beings impacted each other, each travelling close to the speed of light, at the impact point both beings would effectively be travelling nearly twice the speed of light to the other, at which point it could be theorized that they should hypothetically perceive the effects of their impact before the impact actually happens XD

That's the crazy thing. They're not approaching at nearly twice the speed of light - they're still approaching each other at relative speed to each other that is < c.

Actually, when Einstein was touring all around the world there was hardly a single lecture where there weren't self learnt physics enthusiasts trying to show how his theories were flawed - however they were always basing their criticism on misunderstanding or intuition. The maths work and they also explain a lot of phenomena that could not be otherwise explained.

For a proper explanation, check here:

I've actually struggled myself with a lot of this stuff until only very recent months. I've even spent precious Quora credits to have my questions answered, such as does the light from my headlights travel at higher than speed of light if I'm traveling at speed of light. And - it didn't!

Newtonian model is a really nice way of handling basic situations but it is a very good approximation to a point. When distances and velocities become great and we're no longer sticking to Earth system etc., we need special relativity because it is a more precise model for explaining how things work.

And yea, I understood your original message the other way around. An impact at near speed of light creates an explosion that is equivalent to if the impacting objects were made of matter and antimatter. Hence why such a thing would be referred to as a relativistic weapon in scifi. Chuck a lump of metal at a planet at near speed of light and it will explode so violently that the actual photons released from the explosion will themselves push on everything they hit in a wide area. That's no small thing.

In other words, not just the impacting objects wouldn't register a thing, a human being in the vicinity would be obliterated by the release of photons so quickly that indeed he would be dead before his neural network and nerves managed to register a thing.

So, in short, don't piss me off.

The sum is, we vaped a couple of Kubrow for science.

I don't believe it was worth it, though. Poor Kubrow.

it's all just a theory until you have hard evidence, now we just need to create a black box capable of withstanding relativistic impact XD

for the record, I'm intentionally abusing relativistic theory because it's amusing, and it makes Laucivol cry a little thinking how the kubrow might actually witness their own spectacular death happening over the course of a short eternity, unable to do anything about it before it actually happens XD

At that point I become numb, and press the button myself.

I've snapped, and start shoving people into the device, to discern how they deal with it.

    Look what you've done, Damion.
