I have to do a research paper sometime this month and I've been kicking around ideas and looking at my list I think this are the silliest things I've ever come up with. I'm going to share my list here but feel free to toss your own ideas out. The "rules" i guess are that they have to be things you could actually write on and present and there should be a "so what" point. (I sent this to the instructor and she cracked up laughing.)

    Possible Research topics

    ·Munchausen by proxy: why

·The role of sociopaths in society < - case studies plus I could do actual interviews with sociopaths I know (also that Doug guy…somethings not right with him)

·Foods that are going extinct <- bananas and chocolate

·History of cupcakes < - go buy cupcakes OR make some…with rum instead of vanilla

    ·Rates of recycling

    ·History of chocolate - > extinction of cocoa - > synthetic cocoa

·History of Vikings in Canada – personal interest

·Henri the 8th health problems – personal interest

    ·Coffee – addiction/history

·Health benefits of chocolate <- easy way out

·History of dragons in Europe – but so what?

·The rate of extinction in candle fish/significance of the candle fish in Canada < - could steal my sister’s sources from her paper on native American taxonomy

·Rate of extinction of the red ruffie fish in Australia – link to people being bad at resource management?

    ·Dangers of Australian animals

·The rise of Starbucks and its popularity among students

·Domestication of cats vs dogs (so what??)

    ·Monogamy in wild birds

·Homosexuality in wild animals < - LOTS of case studies, but “so what?” awesome topic of awesomeness cuz i could buy that book i want and justify it)

·Human behaviours related to our primal instincts

·Legalities of what we can do with our own dead bodies

    ·Rising costs of tuition/school fees

·Trumps government decisions <- analyze without bias

·Fad diets (do they work, psychological angle?)

·Brain development human vs apes < - too much bias on account of my xenophobia towards other primates

·Are pets capable of loving us back? < - depressing, lack of case studies?

·Cats linked to depression? (how many studies were there? Just the one? Look into this)

·Rise of youtube as a career option

    ·Circumcision argument – do I care enough?

    · Use of dark humour by soldiers to cope - could interview my veteran friends for this one

Ive noticed the more I come up with the dumber they get XD

If you do the starbucks one you could do a correlation to customers with obesity compared to non customers. Trust me.. all overweight chicks I work with have 1 to 2 of these stupid drinks a day.

also study of school cafeterias food and it being linked to obesity in children

Good god. I'm a fatass and love me some Starbucks but I can't even imagine drinking more than one of those things every couple months. They're literally six pounds of candy in a cup.

the frappacino drinks they get have around 500 to 600 calories, 80 to 90 grams of sugar (90 grams of sugar is almost half a measuring cup), and 60% to 70% of the daily saturated fat from one drink this is because they always get the biggest one. The drinks carbs is nuts at 30% or more. and some of them drink two. and then the kicker. also have a pizza hut in the place so they get personals with around 600 calories with almost all of it from fat. i dont know how people can eat such unhealthy food all the time. and then they look at me weird because i eat a combination of things like fruit, yogurt, milk, cheese, green tea, or sesame seed bagel.

Terrible customer service by companies that provide a service (tv, internet etcetera) and why they seem to not care.

Though i like the coffee one and would be interested in what you can find about the history of dragons in europe.

The ones here are doing it as well but I think only till the 15th. Not sure on the date but I think it was a limited time test thing. And I think only on frappecinos (or however they are spelled. I never get them. Iced coffee for me when I deign to go to the overpriced shitty coffee place. I wish there were some real coffee shops around here)

The frappacinos are the ones that get up to 500/600 calories, 90 grams of sugar, and 65% of your daily saturated fat intake.

I'd vote for vikings, Henry the 8th, and the risks associated with lack of biodiversity in plantation agribusiness (bananas, etc.)

You can probably get some data about doomsday seed vaults and the revival of sustainable agriculture to pad out that last one.

    But seriously, Canadian vikings.
