Slo-mo Star Wars: The Old Republic

I don't think we're going to worry about min/maxing or power leveling or anything of the sort. We're going in for the story and the booty.

 

Having some crafting will be nice, but I don't think it will be a requirement. If people want to do some crafting with an alt to keep everyone geared up I don't think you'll hear any complaints, but it's not something our story characters should bother with.

For example, SithBear runs in the story group and only in the story group. During the time between story runs, I use SmithBear to harvest mats and craft gear which gets sent to the party members. That way SithBear doesn't outlevel the group or anything while farming/crafting, yet I can still do my part to help the party have good enough gear to not die next session.

From what I remember, this shouldn't be an issue early game since quest rewards keep you fairly well geared in the beginning. So it's probably something we can work out as we go instead of worrying about who's in charge of which supplies now.

For the crafting stuff F2P can be annoying but yeah, just running the story we should be fine. I am not asking people to delete high level toons or wipe out their accounts. I'm just asking for people to slo-mo the game. Now absolutely I would like new toons for this, but so we can watch the story. Many of us have prefered accounts with more character and inventory slots plus cartel shit we bought over the years.

I don't want people to look at this as playing an MMO. We are going to let Bioware tell us the story while we walk from story teller to story teller. Now yes gear is awesome, and rule of cool when it comes to looks. However I would rather us worry about whos story quest we are going to do first then worry about farming mats and making gear. As I recall this game is murder on gear anyway. Unless you are endgame crafting just lets you kill baby jawas faster, not advance the story.

Also, I checked last night and I have 7 50+ toons scattered on 4 servers. I am sure we can pick a server where someone has some equity and can help us out.

SERVER: This one I was going to save until I really knew who was going to join. If we have Euro/East/West time zones...probably east coast. If its just Americans....we can maybe tweek that.

Alliance/Sith: again, was waiting to see how many people we have. Plus we can also do an alliance night, then a sith, then alli....you get it.

Unless it's changed leveling gear is pretty easy to come by. Dungeons and some quests basically drop socketed items, and the stats come from the things you put in the sockets rather than from the items themselves. There's a vendor that sells upgrades to put in the sockets, again using currency you get from dungeons and some quests. Even if you just play casually you should easily be geared for anything you might want to do while leveling.

 

So, the bottom line question is, what server? I, too, have a handful scattered over quite a few servers both EU/US.. that said, I am on the west coast so....

 

I don't have any real ties to servers since my highest levels are 21. My connection should hold up to West coast or EU as well if we go that route, so whatever is best for the group is my vote.

 

All my toons are on Harbinger, but I still vote we go east coast so everybody across the pond will at least have a shot at a decent ping. Not gonna need legacy unlocks for story mode anyway.

 

There really is only one choice for servers and that is east coast.

So next week we are getting 100mbps internet. And it's not even going to be fiber. So i don't think west coast/eu server would cause to much issue for me.

 

I'm going to come up with a simple personality for my character just for the sake of being consistent in the cutscenes, but other than that I'm not planning to RP. I'll avoid doing anything immersion-breaking if anybody else wants to tho.

 

Funnily enough, Prophecy of the Five & The Ebon Hawk do I have presence on in US (both are East).. and The Red Eclipse on EU. Oddly, the latter I have a much stronger presence, but not invested on thus...

Oh, all said, I'd rather start on a fresh server for this, dunno just seems to be the most in line with intent.

 

I'm good with a fresh start as well. I'm not big on RP in games, but if that's what the group wants I'll go along with it. I'll just RP the strong silent guy.
